    Good morning™, sewer rats!

I suppose this is a storm sewer and not a sanitary sewer, though there are places and times around here where those are combined (especially after a really big rainfall). They are slowly working on separating all of them here.

Anyway, it looks like they succeeded as far as arriving at the machinery room. I wonder why the schedule is so important. This is the second time that he mentioned that the operation is precisely timed.

No trap door from the van floor. And a delivery van sporting a wide-open back door parked right next to an open manhole… nah, that’s not suspicious! Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Of course, all of this presumes that Yeti has detailed mechanical drawings of the metro sewer system, at least as related to the Bat Museum.

Of course, as some of you pointed out earlier this week, this also presumes that man-size openings exist not just under the street, but into the buildings.

    Urban spelunking, anyone?

    Good morning™, sewer slippers !

Nothing like slipping in the ‘back’ way. Where did Yeti get such detailed information on the museum’s floor plan ?

That ceiling light must be there so the rat can see in the dark, as I assume not many humans visit there to make use of it.

I’ll say this for Daisy, he’s a man of tremendous patience to put up with Yeti’s nonstop digs. Kind of sad that his forbearance will be all for naught….

DAISY: I’m glad I thought to douse myself in a bottle of your perfume. I bet it stinks down here.

YETI: I trust it wasn’t from the Eu De Death bottle.

    DAISY: Uh oh…splash

The Tracyville sewers seem similar to those seen in The Phantom of the Opera (i.e., purportedly the sewers of old Paris)—great Romanesque arches, with a hint of German Expressionist cinematography thrown in for good measure. I fully expect that Tracy and Sam are in the museum, if not in the machine room necessarily, since that is whither he told Sam to drive in yesterday’s strip (not after the van). So, there is likely to be a confrontation soon. Care will have to be taken for the exhibits if Yeti and Tracy come into sight of each other in the public spaces of the museum, and that could give Yeti an edge in escaping. But the question remains, why is precise timing so important to Yeti here? What could be involved? Just the night watchman’s rounds, or something more sinister?

A real touch of genius….leaving the van in a alley not far from the museum….with one of the doors left open. I thought Yeti was a criminal mastermind. Daisy will probably get the blame for this oversight…..anxiety and anticipation….like the Double-mint twins in the chewing-gum commercial which came on television.

Nice departure from the usual facial closeups – rich atmospheric background sets from camera angles, odd pieces of discarded equipment and even a curious neighborhood rat! Very atmospheric!!

Nice atmospheric panels. A relief from the usual facial closeups!! Varied camera angles, inventive lighting, odd items in background, tight and distant perspectives! Very nice…
