If she had a camera, she could take before and after pictures — with coffee and without.

Never do that to a coffee drinker, and spouses should never assume and make decisions for their mates. Andy’s being arrogant again.

No problem Roger, just stop a DD on the way to work. Just plan ahead for the mile-long line at the drive-thru window.

I don’t need coffee to wake up, but things just don’t feel right without it.

Several years ago, an illness had me go 3 days without coffee. I decided to use it as an opportunity to quit. For the first two or three MONTHS I felt like my consciousness was about 4 inches to the right of my physical body – like I was running it via remote control. After that I started feeling better and enjoyed the freedom of not needing my morning pot of coffee before I was truly awake.Gravity eventually took over again though. A social cup here and a “bad morning – need a boost” there ramped me back up to my 8-cup normal.I was on the wagon so long that I didn’t even have a coffee maker in the house any more. One day, in desperate need, I brewed some 3 year old coffee grounds in a pan on the stove. That’s when I knew it was time to admit I was re-hooked.When the lockdown was announced in March, I went out and bought an emergency spare coffee maker (which sits on a shelf beside my emergency spare sump pump) just in case.

I drink coffee at work. More of a habit than anything else. I don’t drink it at home.

Reminds me of an old Shoe strip. Shoe is at Roz’s diner and demands a cup of coffee, and Roz suggests that Shoe switch to decaf, it will make him less tense and irritable, LESS TENSE AND IRRITABLE THAN WHAT? screamed Shoe in response. Roz quickly poured Shoe another cup and said, less tense and irritable than not having another cup.

Decaf tasted less like regular coffee back then, but she could have started adding more and more decaf into the regular coffee until he was weaned off the caffeine. Years ago, hospitals noticed that surgery patients were being kept longer because of headaches and other worrysome symptoms. The medical community thought about it and decided that the patients were suffering caffeine withdrawal.

It’s the “unilaterally” before the “decided” which is omitted but implied that is the problem. Why is it that women so often take on this role in the family?

When I see people acting helpless without coffee, I wonder whether coffee made them that way or I’m just lucky enough not to need it.

No, Andi… he’s naturally irritable. Coffee tempers his irritability. Without it, you’ll see just how irritable he can be!
