I have met a few people and see a larger (mch) number of buttfirsters. They seem to be attractedt politics and ranting in The Readers Write sections of the paper.
I was in my dining room at a seniorsâ long term care facility (I was a dietary aide there for 32 1/2 years) setting up the tables for breakfast when one of the residents came in and sat down at his table and I poured him an early coffee. This kind gentleman had Parkinsonâs Disease. When I first saw him I nearly said something that is not in my vernacular. I will say hello, how are you, whatâs up, howâs it going and so on when greeting someone. But this particular morning the express âwhatâs shakingâ came to my mind immediately and I almost said it. I bit my tongue, so to speak, and said, âHello Mr. Patterson. How are you this morning?â I am so thankful that I did not say what came to mind at first. Thinking about it later I marveled at how much of a computer our brains are. I just never use that expression. He or anyone overhearing me might have thought that I was trying to be funny. Was thinking about that moment and thought that I would share it.
I understand Pearl exactly, but do not do the floor before you wash the dishes. Youâll splash water on your clean floor, and have to wipe up the spots. Not to mention you canât even do the dishes until the floor dries.
Same here, but my âbut firstâ goes more in the direction of: âI will read the paperâ, âI will watch a Friends re-runâ, or some other procastination or goof-off tactic until my wife ends up doing the chore.
This is one of the reasons our population is approaching a âcabin feverâ pandemic. I live alone; I can do whatever I want. But, if I stay home, everywhere I look there is something that needs fixing, cleaning, cooking or relocating. Barring unnecessary travel, I take a LOT of walks up and down the cul-de-sac â walks âsupervisedâ by my two cats, who also like to get out.
I consider it getting to Chore Zero. That one needs to be first, and the rest will follow progressively. At least in theory. I would rather read a book.
