I know I commented earlier on the outlet having slots for two prongs and lacking the round slot for the grounding prong, which is typical of outlets in older homes. I don’t know where it went!
I was wondering when you guys checked the strip because I check it on my way to school around 8:40 and people have already been commenting for hours. So when do you check it and comment?
When he mentioned his friends the first thing I thought of was Crockett Johnson’s Mr. O’Malley and his Little Men’s Marching and Chowder Society. I hope I’m remembering that correctly!
I missed where they put out “leprechaun traps”. Is that how he got inside in the first place? I suppose he could be trying to take revenge on the whole human race, few of whom would trap a leprechaun if they could. Have you seen the taxes on pot o’gold recently?
Careful, Natasha. Disguished Vile Baby Raccoons are some of the most dangerous vile raccoons. And you’re interfering with the vile raccoon plans to start yet another war and reap the benefits. They’ll look to go to war with the Robber mice over this.
That last panel reminds me of a verse from a child’s song I remember from my childhood.
Way down south where bananas grow, / A mouse stepped on an elephant’s toe. / The elephant said, with tears in his eyes, / “Why don’t you pick on someone your own size?”
Meanwhile elsewhere in the Big Pink House – Puck continues to bemoan the beautiful antique fixtures, the Man continues to struggle with the beautiful antique keys, and Elvis is ransacking the place for a hatchet.
In case anyone missed it, here is part of a posting from Georgia explaining how much of this is from real life “Closer to this particular tale: The Boy accidentally locked himself and the Girl (then still the Baby) in their nursery when we lived in California. The Man rushed home from work to pick the lock open. This story is more closely based on that day since we had that “I didn’t know this room even had a lock!” moment that time. In our exhausted new parents defense: It was a new apartment, we’d just moved across the country with a toddler and a baby, the knob was a weird super sleek ultra modern affair… but toddlers find a way, lol! The Man took the entire door knob out, and it stayed like that until we moved and he put it back into place. After that, we’ve always made certain we had a key (and one of those long angled picks) to every knob in the house, day one.”

Considering that the kids are trying to trap leprechauns, it seems like the leprechaun’s actions are justified.

Now if you feel that you can’t go on
Until that leprechaun is gone
And you thought the locked door a solution
To thwart that wee faerie’s intrusion
And your defenses are crumblin’ down
Darlings, peace out, come on kids, peace on out & see
Peace out, peace out, you’ll see
She’ll be there, with stabbies to protect you
She’ll be there, the point is that she’ll see you through
She’ll be there, with strength & attitude
She’s so there

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Thomios: Dinner is served. We’ll start with the Nommy Nom appetizers.
Paddy: I didn’t think I’d like cat treats, but these are delicious. Do you make them?
Thomios: Actually, Arachna and her friends make them whenever there’s a locust plague.
Paddy: But how do you know when there’s going to be one?
Thomios: Oh, the Royal Procurers got ahold of the local locust’s plague schedule.
Duffy: I’ll bet they can get the Irish Locust’s schedule as well.
Thomios: And now for the soup. My famous chowder fit for a clowder!
Paddy: Don’t you usually serve the soup first?
Thomios: Yes. But my best soup pot was filled with all these gold coins.
