The big grey that is my avatar loved, loved, loved rolling in mud. He especially loved big muddy puddles. As you can see, he’s quite white. Imagine him standing in a grassy field with trees in the background. Imagine one of the other boarders (horse owner at a place that you pay for a stall for your horse to stay) asking me why my horse wasn’t out in the pasture? Imagine, she’s looking straight at him. Yup, he was well camouflaged in mud. Of course, I’m the one who had to clean the mud off him. Even so, I still miss that big ol’ silly giant Shetland pony.
In the past Danae has been out in the woods and met Mimi Graevsyte (who resembles Wednesday Adams) and the wood girl who is always in pajamas. Yes, this strip could easily get weirder.
Used to ride often when I was a child. Never with a saddle, too dangerous, parents were afraid we’d get dragged with foot caught in stirrup. Another rule was that we were not to tie the reins, our horse was trained to stop if the reins dropped. I rode with my younger cousin who had a bad habit of starting to giggle when the horse would trot, I think our horse knew that this would eventually cause us to fall off, in which case she would stand calmly looking down at us and rolling her eyes.

I love it when they’re “cherry”. Such innocents and expectations. …sigh. Soon she will be a veteran of weird.

Actually, I’m looking forward to the rest of this arc. Fern is interesting, but she also is in for a lot of new experiences. Stand by.

Horses talk very well. They just do not use spoken words. “I want a cookie!” “I got an itch!”

Danae needs to be a little more circumspect about insulting her only means of transport. Can you say “BUCK!”?

No one who grew up in the early 60s would be surprised by a talking horse. Would they, Wilburrrrr?

You shouldn’t be rude to someone who is giving you a ride in her back and could just knock you off.

Some of our most fun sand lot football games were in a totally soaked yard (we turned it into mud) what a blast!!!
