Give it up, Woman. Whatever the people kittens name it will be its real name.

Arsenic & Old Lace is one of the greatest plays and films ever made! The People know what’s good!!!

We have us a name! I’m afraid I don’t remember the characters in Arsenic and Old Lace to get the reference to Mortimer. But the Girl came up with perfect name in Tortimer!

Easy Lupin, just close your eyes.

No, wait! That might make it worse!

Just hook your claws into the carpet and settle down for a few minutes.

Any ride you don’t barf off was a good one.

This reminds of the saying that you’re not drunk if you can lie on the ground without having to hold on.

I’d ask if there’s been too much Animal Crossing during the shutdown, but Tortimer’s not in New Horizons, and the Kids aren’t near old enough to have played New Leaf…I’ll just have to remind myself that it’s a likely a coincidence, and that you man robovac instead of cool old turtle when referring to the vacuum by name.

‘Mortimer Turrdle’ has a nice ring too.

Love it – I knew Lupin would be unrepentant! But I also love Elvis’ unobtrusive supporting paw on his shoulder.

Look’s like the 60’s were good for Lupin, let’s hope Tortimer is too!

My Roomba lets the cat travel about, never saw it buck him off, but our roomba goes real slow and methodical, doing a 30 foot swipe in about 90 seconds.

Tortimer must be a Ninja Turtle, he’s way faster than most of his turtle breathern.

Sorry, Lupin, Elvis can’t slow the world down for you. Breathe and focus.

I am wondering if this conversation or one like it actually took place when Georgia’s family got their robot vacuum.

lupin felt a little strange!

I’m trying to connect “Arsenic and Old Lace” to a robot vaccuum, but I can’t. In this household of nerds, I’d expect a Dalek or R2D2 reference, instead.

I’m not that familiar with “Arsenic”, so I just keep thinking about Edgar Bergen’s Mortimer Snerd.

The Girl has her mother’s way with words, does she not? I like “Tortimer.” And Lupin is still learning from heartless Experience. The trouble with experience is that you get it right after you need it.

I vote for “Tortimer” as well.

Off subject I posed this question on another strip and it was suggested I ask it here as we’re all cat fans. I have good friends that have 4 cats. All came at different times and for different reasons. One of them is a litter mate of my 2 boys. He’s a naturally larger cat like them, but he’s gain a huge amount of weight over the last few years. They’ve tried low calorie high protein food, but he still hasn’t lost a pound. He weighs in at 31 pounds now. He resembles a football. I suspect he’s somehow sneaking food from the other bowls, but his ability to get to them is limited. They’re indoor cats for the most part. They all have an abundance of toys and places to play.

My friends love him dearly, but can’t afford vet services. Over the years I have tried to help out with that, but I can’t manage it along with my two. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? We took him into the vet once about it, and the vet couldn’t find anything obvious wrong.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

Does the boy have a toy army helmet he can put on the back of the robot to make it more tortoise-like?

Tortimer is good. We live on a street called Tortuga. Sadly there are no turtles, tortoises, or terrapins close by.

Lupin looks much like I did after I rode the Fire and Ice roller coasters at Universal Studios back-to-back.

If it’s like drinking, just hang one leg over the side of the bed. Stops the room from spinning. Ask me how I know this.

A good children’s book I just read. Strange Planet The Sneaking, Hiding, Vibrating Creature by Nathan W Pyle. New this year. Contains Death Blades and Flavor Muscles, among other great definitions.

Must’ve been one heck of a ride.

Tortimer has been so helpful to just sort of “reset” the floor each night. He is an iRobot Roomba (I avoided brand names in the comic, but we’ve had great luck with him, so I thought I’d mention it here if it could help!)”

He looks like he has a lot of fun on Tortimer.

Mortimer is a great name (for a cat)

The scientific name is “Machina speculatrix”.

Mort = Death so Mortimer the Roomba would be the Death of Dust. Dust-bunnies beware!

Arsenic and Old Lace is one of my favorite plays and Dr Einstein is probably my favorite role I’ve played. I’ve actually done the show three times now. The first time was in high school and I played Officer O’Hara that time, but I played Einstein the other two. I do a Peter Lorre voice when playing him since the movie was my introduction to the story so that’s how I always picture the character and frequently have audience members say I sound just like him. Super fun role in super fun play.
