Laughed at Elvis doing his “morning exercise “ on the Man’s chest. Continued to laugh all the way through rest of panels. Then shared Elvis’s exhaustion….so tiring riding around in Girl’ baby buggy! That hat is So Big and Heavy!
I used to dress Big Bad John, my Siamese Protector Cat, in doll clothes and push him around in my toy pram. He liked to take a nap inside the pram. The things a Siamese Protector Cat will do to please their little girls. He was such a good boy.
Christopher Smart (1722-71) spent a number of years incarcerated in St. Luke’s Hospital, London, because he was thought to be mad. While there, he wrote some of the most sublime spiritual poetry in the language. In his “Jubilate Deo,” a long meditation on the incursions of the Divine into the everyday, is a section that exhaustively catalogs all the qualities that make a cat a cat.
From that poem, this is a small part of his account of his cat, Jeoffrey, as the animal wakes up each morning :
For first he looks upon his forepaws to see if they are clean.
For secondly he kicks up behind to clear away there.
For thirdly he works it upon stretch with the forepaws extended.
For fourthly he sharpens his paws by wood.
For fifthly he washes himself.
For sixthly he rolls upon wash.
For seventhly he fleas himself, that he may not be interrupted upon the beat.
I’ve been enjoying Puck’s journaling and scrapbooking/artistic skills in the last panel. So impressive! Just imagine what Puck and Sophie could create together! 8)
I think Elvis is missing an opportunity here. Aim your running exercise a little lower down. The Man is sure to get up and you might get an early pre-breakfast breakfast!
Maybe it’s just me but these strips are all mini-masterpieces to my sensibility. Love the lettering on “YAWN..” and throughout; so glad Georgia hand letters these strips, it adds a lot that people may not even realize.
I got notice from the place where I preordered the next BCN Book, Behind the Scenes with Burt that it will be delayed until February 2. I think the original release date was for the week after Christmas. Oh well, it gives something to look forward to in February!

I’m so glad I don’t have a 5 AM breakfast call. I don’t function at 5 AM. I’d have to invest in a timed feeder, and that’s not the same at all.

Elvis, why don’t you get up with the children, who wake up early anyway?

I see a basic cat principle is being invoked:
The plate is empty. Therefore the cat is starving.

Abba: Super Trouper
I was feeling tired of everything
When I got up and stretched this morning
It was time to eat and do my thing
Once again there was a new day dawning
So imagine I was waiting for my breakfast
Suddenly I feel all right
Until I realize it’s after 10 am
And must beg for my dinner for tonight!
…….
But like a super trouper I am gonna get through
From the rising sun,
Joining my girl’s fun
This meese is the Number One!
Tonight this super trouper’s gonna be exhausted
But I won’t feel blue
I love what I do
‘Cause my little girl’s there, too!
…….
Writing of the actions of my friends
Writing of all for which I’m grateful,
Every day the joy just never ends,
With my family forever faithful!
There are moments when they drive me crazy,
But it’s gonna be alright,
I enjoy my naps and meals with my friends,
And I’ll run around tonight!
…….
Today this Super Trouper’s capturing each moment
Writing everything,
With his journaling,
As everyone does their thing,
Today this Super Trouper’s taking pen and paper
Like I always do,
Colors bright and new,
Writing every day with you!
…….
So every day the day arrives,
We find a way to know it’s great to be alive!
And when it’s time to sleep again,
We know tomorrow we’ll be joining all of our friends!
…….
Today this Super Trouper’s capturing each moment
As the day arrives,
Every day we strive,
Even though some might connive! (Lupin!)
Today this Super Trouper’s waking up this morning
Loves to run and play,
Gonna seize the day,
Won’t have it any other way!

For ninthly he looks up for his instructions.
For tenthly he goes in quest of food….

LOL – Elvis’s “paw to the face” in panel eight! His warning paw in panel nine. His dramatic “behold the empty bowl” arm sweep in panel ten.

We free-feed our cats with Nimitz’s Rx kibble for bladder crystals. Twice a day they get gooshyfood. That reference is from the Two Lumps webcomic.

My cats morning routine is :
1. Get up
2. Wait at the door to be fed. (He’s a porch cat)
3. Once fed he gobbles up his food
4. Attempts to bite/scratch my feet
