Last year at this time, Bea was stuck in a tree, which leads to her comment about a week from heck, in a year of straight-up poop. Marie got me the T-Shirt with Bea on it for Christmas last year, and I am wearing it out. It looks like I will need to buy another one.

I am happy to report that, aside from the flood warnings throughout the eastern half of the state, the local impacts from Ida seem to be minimal. Our power never even flickered … which is quite a surprise since it often goes out with absolutely no influence from the weather.

I can’t hear you because the bluejays are screaming too loudly. I get that sound when the suet runs out.

How soon will it be until the CN crew starts chittering at the jays?

Oogie Boogie and Boudicca think our local bluejay mafia and mockingbird ninjas are fascinating — as long as they’re watching the show from inside the house, LOL. Boudicca is the only one that chitters (she chitters a lot).

Puck may love TV drama, but he’s a natural healer and peacemaker so he’ll figure out how to stop the squabble within the next few days.

I love what appears to be a reference to a Gershwin song in panel 2. I think Sarah Vaughn covered it best…

After watching several broods of magpies raised in our neighbourhood, I have realized the loudest “conversations” are between (long tails) parents and (short tails) brood. Once young are fledged, and the gist of it is: Youngster, “feed me, feed me, fed me!!!!”. Parent "your are old enough to feed yourself. Here let me show you. Again….”. At this point parent moves way from youngster and continues feeding. Son youngsters learn to forage on their own faster. We have speculated on the survival rate of the ones who continue to pester parents.

So Goldie is the only one Puck is will to share his window with?
