Considering the comments from the last couple of days on what cats do to bluejays, they’ll be lucky to get out of there with their tailfeathers intact, let alone the rest of them.
Well, that’s another difference between Baba Mouse and my family’s similar vintage Chessie (other than Mouse no longer aging and all…). Chessie was unable to scare the blue jays off after she hit Old Lady Cat status.
Baba Mouse is just who I want to be when I’m grown up. Since I am 72 now, it can’t be long. Seems a satisfying solution. Try polite then proofing loose it when I’ve fails.
I was a teenager, in that stupor stage where all I wanted and needed was sleep, and had this ruckus going on in the tree right out my window. I finally lost it, and pulled a Baba Mouse, I threw open my 2nd story window and screamed at the top of my lungs into the backyard, and the whole block, “SHUUUUT UUP!!!!!” It worked, for about 20 minutes.
The dreaded Blue Jay on rye with chipotle mayo? (We might find them unpalatable but we’re talking cats here and Baba ain’t gonna back down from no Jay, no matter how far it can hit a baseball. )
Reminds me of that stupid Tostitos commercial where the two idiots are having a thought arguement over which should tell the guy he just dripped salsa on himself. And he ends up telling her she has something between her teeth Then when he leaves both call him rude for point that out. Yet they fail to acknowledge that they were looking to be “rude” first.
My dear buddy of nearly 13 years, Clayton, passed away in his sleep last night. He was about five years old when I got him and he had been a barn cat before then. The first summer I had him, when I had a back yard he could go into, he caught four mice and a mole. He was one of the most intelligent cats I’ve ever had. I got him at the same time as another cat, Roli Poli, who passed away at the end of March 2019. I was worried Clayton would miss him, but Clayton made it clear that he was happy to be an only cat. Right now, I’m working a lot of 12-hour shifts, so I won’t be getting another cat for a while. It wouldn’t be fair for the cat to have a new home with no one around. And Clayton is going to be a hard act to follow. Right now, I’m moving between acceptance and missing him greatly.

Jim Croce: You Don’t Mess Around With Jim
Uptown got it’s book store
The barn has its AV Cat
The Big Pink House has a lovely bird bath
Where the birds come and sing and cat
Yeah, the birds come around from throughout the town
But those jays can be mighty rude
And when Jason and Jason get together some times
They can talk and they act real crude, just because
But they say
…….
You don’t make any Meezer poof,
You don’t steal Bea’s books,
You don’t leave a plant on the shelf next to Lupin,
And you don’t mess with Baba Mouse!
…….
Well one day Goldie was watching with the Boys
And at the bath were a couple of jays,
And there Jason saw his nemesis Jason
And he said “I’ll have my say”
I know you’ve been messing with Jason,
In a business deal gone astray
Last week you took all my money
And it may sound funny
But I know Jason’s hiding out back,
And everybody say guy don’t you know
…….
You don’t make any Meezer poof,
You don’t steal Bea’s books,
You don’t leave a plant on the shelf next to Lupin,
And you don’t mess with Baba Mouse!
…….
Well the jays kept on fighting at the bird bath,
And the language, kittens shouldn’t hear
And soon we found Baba Mouse came around
And she made everything very clear,
It was time for the argument to end
And away the Jasons all should flit,
But you knew it was time,
For Jason to fly
When Baba Mouse shouted “Git!”
And we all know:
…….
You don’t make any Meezer poof,
You don’t steal Bea’s books,
You don’t leave a plant on the shelf next to Lupin,
And you don’t mess with Baba Mouse!

I once lived next door to a family that had a deaf cat. It would happily sit in the yard, while blue jays were squawking and mobbing over its head.
