There’s just no pleasing Opal is there Earl.

So she’s not willing to watch him get dressed?

Thing is, Earl is still better dressed than Opal here

“Oh, wait! Let me get my clown shoes!”

Why do wives say, “You’re not wearing THAT, are you?!” Or “That’s just not you.” Or “If you’re wearing that tonight I don’t know you.” My wife has said these things and more! :-)

Ya nailed it, Earl

I ALWAYS prefer to stay home to have dinner. Maybe it’s just being tight with money, but the truth is that it’s just NICER at home (tastier too, in many cases). The big advantages of eating out are real… just not my personal preference. There are three: Spouse thinks it’s a treat; We can each have dishes that the other doesn’t much like (oysters for me, lamb for her); And there are no dishes to do. Plus lef tovers, many times.

Pizza delivery?

A Fashion Plate Earl is not!

My son really liked aloha shirts and even had a blog about them, but then the Boogaloo Boys made them their uniform, so he rarely wears them now.

All Earl’s taste is in his mouth!

I haven’t been to a restaurant since the pandemic.

Earl wins again… until he has to sleep on the couch.

We prefer to occasionally eat out for LUNCH, rather than dinner. We basically eat very little in the evening anyway. Who wants to go to bed with a heavy, undigested meal? Going out for lunch is cheaper, too.

Opal next time let him dress as he likes . When he gets pointed at maybe he will figure it out ;-)

I dress like a slob, but when I go out to eat, I put on something presentable.

From the looks of it, I don’t think Earl really wanted to go out for dinner. Leftovers are probably better anyway. They certainly are cheaper.

When to use the term “dinner” vs “supper”? Often wondered. Suppose it’s similar to the toilet roll argument…over or under…

Where are his Lederhosen? It’s Octoberfest time!

My wife dresses up well, I do not. No one will be looking at me when we are out and about.

Earl is losing it! I wouldn’t go out with him either! OY!

“When you quit dressing like a frumpy old lady, maybe I’ll dress more presentably” said Earl NEVER, but I bet he thinks it.

Is he wearing sandals? That would make the outfit.

I live in a central California coastal tourist town. Tourists here don’t dress like the tourists I remember from Santa Barbara. There are often days I believe I’m the only man on the street not wearing a t-shirt. My Hawaiian shirt is positively “dressy”. :)

Fit right in if they were going for dinner at the local golf club.

Earl is just a guy!

I think that was Earl’s plans all the time eat at home. For Opal be a treat going out. Husband does not mind going out to eat. I cannot go to Italian places or Hispanic places. One place I liked the public closed, the place was a healthy one.

Hang a camera around your neck and you can go as a tourist.

Up to the end of his life, my father liked to dress nicely (not fancy) when my parents went out for dinner. Since he was bit color blind, he would ask my mother for help choosing what to wear.

Take your sister out to eat, Opal. Don’t try to change him, besides, no need to be embarrassed by how he looks, he’s fine. Someday when you lose him you’ll be happy to have him back, jumpsuit and all! In fact, it’s those things you’ll miss most, those things that make you smile in memory.

if you’re going down to Wendy’s the jumpsuit was fine, if you’re going to a really fancy expensive place, then your own outfit isn’t “appropriate” Opal!

if you do not want to go out and eat……just say so!

You can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.
