Boy, do I agree with that. It’s monotonous seeing the same commercials time after time. I don’t even bother watching one certain station anymore because of those ads. The same goes for the medication commercials.
I watch all my programs on DVR so I can skip commercials. Sadly, my husband doesn’t and he is hard of hearing, so I still have to hear them in the other room. No, we don’t watch the same things.
I’m on basic Medicare (no choice), but everything else we get through my wife’s job. Meds, dental, vision coverage for both of us costs less for a year than Medicare Advantage would for a month.
Of all the commercials on TV, I hate those the worst because they are a big con. Come on, Advantage plans aren’t available in rural areas and you don’t have a choice of doctors other than who are in the plan’; it’s basically a HMO. I hit mute when they do come on or change channels.
When my oldest was born, I worked nights, and cared for him during the day. All the ads were for technical schools, personal injury lawyers, or cash your annuity settlement now. They must feel that only unemployed people watch TV during the day.
I always thought that if you were a plugger you haven’t watched what is called TV in years – I must really be confused as I haven’t watched it/had it in our house in over 15 years and haven’t missed it at all. I do watch some YouTubers(that have the same hobbies as me) and an occasional sporting event on the web – but I am at a loss when people talk about a “TV” show or series. Again don’t miss it. Just plugging along.
I just got my medicare card. Now I do feel old. Time to tell all my doctors and insurance that I have it. Haven’t had to use it yet, but then I haven’t even had it for a month.
Sometimes pluggers like me can be a captive audience. I don’t have cable or anything hooked up at home. I watch DVDs or occasionally buy a movie to stream on the computer. But when I was in the hospital, there were no options. Before I was through the first show, the amount of commercials and the inanity caused me to just shut off the TV. Being bored was preferable to being assaulted!
Husband has hated Joe Namath ever since Namath ran over husband’s foot while we were in college – Jets practiced at our college – and Namath did not even apologize.

I laugh every time Tom Selleck tries to justify why he is “pushing” reverse mortgages.

It’s that time of year, Medicare Open Enrollment. If you like what you have, keep it.

I channel surf thru ads (unless DVD’d, then we just spin thru them). End up watching two or three different shows. Kinda fun : )

Our YMCA has an area for us pluggers. The TVs are almost always on MeTV. Those commercials are on all the time. Even when it is not enrollment time.

We don’t choose the commercials…it’s about the hours & channels you’re watching. (Are they still called, “channels”?)
