YAY! It’s the last of the flashback strips. Time to get back to Tiff, Stef, Bets and Dez!

How dreadful for Luann.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave….

perception is such a strange thing. because no matter HOW many times you hear “just ignore” other students, at that age fitting in is such a powerful motivator. And yet, in this situation, Luann fits in from the start. Noone has a Valentine.

Greg is on vacation.

It didn’t get any better in the retelling.

Nice to see a Delta again!

The card is blushing in the first panel, but it recovered by the last panel.

Somehow the old comics were nicer than the complexity of today’s stuff.

I am tired of Flashbacks – question is – did they have a purpose in what will happen next in the future?

Loud and clear, Luann.

Every author has to start somewhere.

Luann, never worry about what Delta and Bernice think about you again. Especially Bernice. Bernice is going to be too negative forever. (Luann won’t learn anything from this, but what the hey.)

Because she wanted them to think Gunther gave her a valentine. That’s not such a difficult thing to explain, especially since they’re the ones who jumped to that conclusion in the first place.

Oh yes, just fake a few tears, bat those eyes, and all will be forgiven. Males can’t resist an attractive female doing that, no matter how rotten she is.

I’m guessing that G&K can’t come up with any new Valentine themes, so they’re showing lame reruns instead.

It should stay with flashbacks. Luann has been bad for so long now it’s not worth reading. I only started reading it again because it was the older strips, which I saw in the local paper. If Mr. Evans is on vacation, he needs to take a longer vacation or go away on sabbatical.

I’m glad Luann is standing trying to explain what happened. She knows to have done something really dumb. She will never do it again. Hopefully…

What a dumb stupid loser

I had forgotten just how much Luann hasn’t learned over the last 36 years

This has been a reprint of a classic Luann adventure.

In today’s episode, Luann proves herself to be a ‘Poser’.

What ever happened to Delta? Where did she go off to in the future….our now present.

Karen should do a spin-off & call it “Tiffs’ world”.

In other words, Gunther, Delta and Bernice, Luann is a goofball.

That’s it in a nutshell.

Not that you three are “perfect” either.

Well, maybe you, Delta.

Which is probably why you’re no longer in the Strip.

It only leaves one question (and maybe it’s been answered and I don’t remember): what happened to Delta?

While I’ll enjoy getting back to new stories, I’ll also miss the retro, pre-digital illustration. I remember the old days of having to hand-cut and apply sheets of Zip-Tone dot patterns to add gradients and textures to artwork. Good memories!

I finally noticed today that both “Luann” and “Luann Againn” involve an embarrassing letter to a boyfriend. Only took me about a week!

When you start to dig a hole it is time to put down the shovel.

I miss Delta.

I miss Delta, too. It would be fun to have her come home from school and have a robust story with her, Luann, and Bernice.

I see I’m not the only one who wonders why Delta isn’t in the strip any more. I know she went off to University, but is there a reason Greg didn’t bring her back?

Luann has a similar luck with her love life in Luann Againn today.

From my mouth to Greg’s ears: PLEASE let Luann get a WIN (hopefully with Jack, but any scrap of joy should do…)!

Luann wanted Gunther to like her then, and (based on more current arcs) I don’t think that has changed.

Come on Gunther, catch up!

It doesn’t even make sense. Regardless of whether he gave her one, she wouldn’t still have the card she gave him.

She made the card for him but modified it. She didn’t give it to him.

There is probably a Lesson To Be Learned from all this Valentine fusseria, but Loser-Girl is too busy wallowing in self-pity to notice it….

Loving Gunthie’s expression in the first panel

I can relate to Gunther. Back in the day, after I told her that I loved her, she gave me the “I love you too, but only as a friend speech.” I accepted it. As if I had a choice. 5 weeks later, she called me up wanting to know why I was not asking her out anymore. No sense spending my time, cash, and burning my gas on a chick who sees me as only a fill in until her next boyfriend comes along.

Yikes, that reminds me whatever happened to Delta?
