The illustrations and coloring are fab. Sam’s tie in P. 1 has a sort of glow to it and his face has a gritty and almost real look in P. 2. Love the behind shot of Ape and Ferret. If any of Tracy and Sam’s talk is supposed to be whispers dotted lines around their word balloons would serve to indicate that.
Greetings, sewer searchers! I love the coloring and the shadows/shading in today’s installment, particularly in the third panel. Tracy and Sam have the element of surprise on their side, which may come in handy if Yeti tries to snuff out Ape and Ferret on their return. Our detectives may have to save their lives from the lunatic poisoner.
I really like the angle in the first panel. They look good to me. Tracy’s coat is a little greenish, but it seems like a good colour. An outstanding strip overall, in terms of art.
I guess we can surmise that either: 1) Tracy and Sam saw them going into the man hole, or 2) the drone picked them up. But I do wonder where Ferret parked the car.
Great art today. First panel, last row is just like we’ve seen on dozens of cop shows. All the panels have something to admire.
What a politically correct “sewer!!” Where is the assorted debris, rats and general all round “murk”? Stench, wavy lines? Oh! The maintenance department knew Tracy was coming and did not want his pristine coat soiled!! How thoughtful!!
guns out? without any threat or challenge given? following a hit and run? this is a massive over reaction and the story line has abandoned all attempt at tying to fact
“I’ll call in reinforcements to cover the exits in this area”. Terrific! Man hole cover assignments. What about the exits outside this area? Nah…don’t want to put too much of a burden on Tracy and Sam. Obviously a lot of unseen action off the page. (between yesterday and today) Such as the turn off Ferret and Ape took. Them exiting their vehicle and walking on foot. Thank you, guest writer. " I’ve got to use….my imagination". I had to dust that trait off, the trend nowadays is put things right in your face.
This strip really stinks these days. Very little Chester Gould influence left in it anymore. It feels like a comic based on an animated series that was loosely based on the original source material. Just cancel it already and be done with it.
Tracy and Sam are hot on the trail of Ferret and huge, lumbering Ape. Technical criticism, though: in the last panel, Tracy is holding his drawn pistol with his finger on the trigger! This is big No No, as taught in any gun safety course. The finger only goes on the trigger when it is time to shoot; otherwise, it is kept outside the trigger guard, typically along the receiver. Tracy should know better! In fact, why has he drawn his weapon at all? Ape and Ferret are not, to his knowledge, high-danger criminals.
Excellent artwork and variety of viewpoints. The pace has quickened….
And how different this might have been if Ferret hadn’t run after the side-swipe. Traffic accidents are fairly minor offenses, and so far as we know neither Ape nor Ferret has a warrant out on them. – BTW, now they are likely going from the frying pan to the fire. Could be neither will be in living condition to get arrested by the police.
To speculate about future story arcs, – We saw Dick Tracy resolve the last story arc of ‘Annie’, finding and returning Annie to her Daddy. – And we know that persons from ‘Terry and the Pirates’ have twice appeared, or been mentioned, in ‘Dick Tracy’. – Can Dick Tracy solve the abduction of Stalky Schweisenberger by her no-good brother ‘Gopher’, one of the last arcs in ‘Steve Canyon’? – Can you think of others?

Rose colored glasses not for Sam. Those petals out of place
Daisy has an axe to grind yet none have seen his face.
Ferret is a piece of work. She’ll do wrong for a price
Rabbit’s death, she shrugged it off. Did not mourn or think twice.
Eyes in the sky now on the job. They have the car in sight
Sam and Tracy hit the street prepared to do what’s right.
Path they take leads underground. A tour of the sewer
Should they try to shoot it out there soon shall be two fewer
In the employ of Yeti. Harsh poison works so fast
Should one feel the sting of it, next breath shall be the last.

Hahaha, did Tracy and Sam grow mustaches in panel two?! Sam looks like Luigi! Otherwise, amazing art!

Ape should consider a career change. With that build, he might do well as a football player :)

And, of course, the sewer is well-lit and Dick ‘n Sam don’t need flashlights.

1-SAM: It’s a good thing that gal left off the manhole cover. We could a never moved it.
DT: True but now it’s a driving hazard. Oh well…
2-DT: UGH! This mud is squishy and it’s ruining my wingtips! SAM: Mud. Yeah…
3-DT: Draw your weapon, Sam. This might get ugly. SAM: Hmmm. I usually keep it right here…
4-APE: This would be a metaphor for sex if it was a train going through here instead of us. FERRET: I prefer the “rocket launch” metaphor.
5-BEEP BEEP BEEP DT: Oh there’s the lunch time alarm. What sounds good, Sam?
SAM: Any place that doesn’t contribute product to this sewer. PEE YUUUU! DT: Well Sam, ultimately they all contribute to it…
