Hello… My name is Anne and I am a shopaholic. My Mother use to say I was the Queen of shopping and I didn’t get it from her. It’s such good therapy!!!!!
One problem with buying online – delivery. I’ve been waiting for some seeds for almost two weeks. UPS’ site has said it’s out for delivery for nine days!
I was the one who took our kids shopping; the missus could not take the noise. I enjoyed. I had one rule-if we buy any thing you don’t wear you have to pay me for it. I enjoyed it.
My observation is that folks who were careful and disciplined during the pandemic built a lot of new structure into their lives, which persists. I think part of this structure was just a coping mechanism.
I only order online when I need something but when my divorce ever gets finalized, soon hope, and when I get my cash settlement I will be hitting some online sites to buy stuff for my self that I have wanted but don’t have enough money to buy them now.
We do not order anything to be delivered unless it is something we ABSOLUTELY NEED & ABSOLUTELY CANNOT FIND LOCALLY!
Almost always problems with deliveries – damaged items, items left in rain, items left at foot of the driveway (which is maybe 20 ft – not a long walk), items get here late, items get here early (so we did not know to go out & look for it), 1 item delivered late Sunday night fairly early in pandemic & had I not taken our outdoing mail to our mailbox to leave for pickup, would not have known it was there & it would have been ruined by rainstorm overnight.
Ordered food May 2020 from Walmart. WMs here do not deliver, so deliveries came spread over 4 days from warehouses CA to MA by Fed Ex. Dented cans, bent over plastic bottle necks, boxed items looked as if they had been stomped on…
We had ordered from BJs- someone goes out and shops one’s list & delivers. Was done as needed meat. Order went through then the text messages started coming for items not in stock – mostly the meat items we had ordered to get – in one case we were ordered a bag of ice as a substitute for a meat item! Only meat received was 1 7.5 lb of excessively fatty beef for stew. Then it took husband 2 days of contacting them to get a refund for the items we did not receive.
But we do get a lot of deliveries for our neighbors – not that we are suppose to get them, they just get left here and I have to go and bring them to who they belong to – one box left on the side of house few years ago while away – bad as showed people we were away and bad for neighbor who it was for. Packages for strangers up to 3 blocks away have left here.
Live on 4 lane main road – anyone passing can notice and take packages – especially from bus stop across the street.
Oh – and then there is husband’s insulin which had to be delivered and was left outside in 90+F heat & is temperature sensitive – told we would have to sign for it, left at door after 3 days in transit – not usable.

I do not get as much out of shopping online as in walking an aisle. Hard to beat finding that special something, especially finding it on special.

1st step is admitting the problem. The 2nd step is canceling the membership.

How much stuff does she need at her age? I don’t buy much – - online or in person.

Retail therapy is good for the should. But hell on the pocketbook. At least she could try bundling to save on shipping costs.
