How we bespectacled people even manage to do such a task when the optometrist’s clinic is either far away or closed for the day? I can so relate to those kits. I even remember my glasses having broke a few hours after my grocery store shift was done for the day and had Dad drive me to the optometrist’s clinic for temporary repairs before the clinic itself closed for the day and before COVID temporarily closed it (had to get my new set through the mail to my place).
The great thing about nearsightedness is that I CAN see those tiny little screws. Except that my presbyopia now means I can’t see that close. Praise to that gizmo that holds a magnifier and a light over the work area…
I saw an ad for these new eye drops that are supposed to improve close up vision (presbyopia, usually affects older folks) i wondered if they really work
And this is why you keep your previous glasses when you get new ones. Unfortunately for me the old ones are pre-cataract surgery so are worse than none and already donated to the Lions. However, I will follow my own advice with the next pair.
First there’s blurred vision, then acute vision, then blurred vision. Little or no hair, then hair, then a lot less hair. With baby fat, then balanced weight [for some], then adult fat. Start short, get tall, then shorter again. And people say life is not circular. :} )
Everybody should have a MagnaVisor™. Cheap like borscht. If you spend a lot of time using one, you’ll want to modify it with a good headband. I used replacement headgear for a Miller welding helmet.
I keep a magnifying glass next to the phone and note pad. Have you ever tried reading the ingredients on the package of any produce, esp. those on small bottles of OTC medications. Impossible sometimes even using the magnifying glass.
A screw came out of my glasses while I was on a trip with my parents. We used one of these kits to fix them, and it was a real challenge. Not only was seeing the screw and the hole a challenge, so was holding everything together while assembling. Many screws disappeared in the process. My mom does a lot of quilting, so she ended up being the only one of the three of us with enough close vision and motor control to do the job.
I be going to an optical and not try to repair. For me took me 50 years actually been wearing glasses from early grade school, optical only concentrated on the ear pieces, should adjust the nose piece, my own glasses do not slide down.
Why not just get prescription glasses, put them on before your feet hits the floor in the morning & take off when you turn out the light at bedtime.?? I find it hilarious to watch the faces of people to dumb to where glasses TRY to see without glasses. It’s ridiculous.

Catch 22. You need glasses to see the screws, but you can’t wear the glasses until the screws are put in.

Old people should have both strong and weak reading glasses. Weak for normal books and strong for special occasions like this.

You have to have 2 pairs of glasses so you wear one pair to fix the other pair. I have one of those kits with the tiny screwdriver.

Just put your glasses on, then you can see them.

For close up work, it’s often easier to see/focus without glasses on.

Help for that is going to be hard to find unless you can get your daughter to sacrifice some time to help you for a change.

They are using the hidden cameras in my house again. Seriously, this was the same conversation my wife and I had last week with her glasses.
