Fun fact: “UGH” was not originally intended to be pronounced “ugg”, but “eew”. Those of us with the middle name “Hugh” may have realized this earlier than the rest of you people.

I thought “Ugh!” was the sound Earl makes as he works to get his body moving and up to answer the call of the one he loves.

I have done a few of those what Opal states when husband asks a question in another room.

My husband was quite young when we met. He had acquired the habit of responding to something he hadn’t heard or understood with, “Henh?”, a noise that sounded like a migrating goose. So I started responding with a similar call. He hasn’t done it in YEARS.
