The third rock from the sun (to steal a phrase) is just that: a rock — insentient and uncaring. It will carry on without us at some very distant time, and it will neither remember us nor care.

If the planet actually got mad, we are definitely not trying to calm it down.

A few years years ago I started speaking out about my theory that the melting of the Polar ice caps could release the weight of that ice allowing movement of the tectonic plates thus causing increased effects we’re seeing now.

Off course the academics po poem the idea because I had no proof.

I am reading an article in Scientific American about how Big Oil keeps climate change out of science textbooks published in Texas. Now that should be enough to scare anyone: science and Texas in the same sentence.

I think the argument goes like this, “While you are discussing the myth of climate change, I’d like to point out that it’s time for our companies to consider continuing our large educational grants to boy’s football and girl’s cheerleading programs in Texas public and religious schools.”

Texas is also the largest publisher of textbooks in the country. Because of the large volume, they can produce them a lot cheaper than the competition and therefore the books are very popular with school districts outside the state that have limited budgets. Like how many of those can there be?

The earth may be a living thing, but it is not a thinking thing!

but it does make ya wonder don’t it…

I would suggest making a sacrifice (or six) to the volcano.

The planet has been through a lot worse than us. Been through all kinds of things worse than us: been through earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, continental drifts, solar flares, sunspots, magnetic storms, the magnetic reversal of the poles, hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets and asteroids and meteors, worldwide floods, tidal waves, worldwide fires, erosion, cosmic rays and recurring ice ages. Our plant is four and a half billion years old, we’ve been here what? 100,000? Maybe 200,000? The planet isn’t going anywhere… we are! We’re going away! The planet will be here long long after were gone, and will not ever remember we were here at all.

Yeah. because Volcanoes are Earth’s way of getting back at people who litter. Stupid.

It doesn’t get mad, but it will get even. Mother Nature bats last.

To those trying to explain science to one who doesn’t believe in science, I’d quit trying. Just pushing your buttons. I don’t care if conservatives believe or not. I hope those of us who believe in climate change aren’t proven right. At the same time when, in the near future, you are proven wrong, will you be able to look your children and your children’s children in the eye. How will cleaning up the environment, getting off fossil fuel and on to renewal resources, replacing plastic with less harmful products hurt anyone. The fossil fuel industry has had its day and they are f’ing rich. Cleaning up the environment will only help wildlife, the ocean and its inhabitants, and let people be healthier. You are just a mean old fossil yourself if you don’t care.

Well, if your lot had not been so, um.. frisky, there would not be so many of us today.

We comment here that we need to do something to stop the gradual warming of our planet. But for those of you that live in the Sodom and Gomorrah of San Fransicko and Silicon Valley, over 25% of your smog is generated by China, India and other SE Asian countries. If we can not get them to stop polluting, no matter how many of us drive EVs in the USA and use windmills and solar energy to partially charge them, there is still pollution in the air. Now Germany and other European countries are firing up their coal fired electric generation and nuclear plants. The USA may be a cause of CO2, but has reduced its CO2 emissions greatly over the past 10 years.But, another part of the USA’s problem is the millions of biden illegal immigration now over populating the support structure of food, energy, housing, energy, education and health care. Feel sorry for them, then open up your pocket book and homes to them to give them a happy life.

But we help the planet out so much!!!

Nature has no anger, nor need of anger, it relentlessly moves ahead. If you adapt, you survive, if you don’t adapt Nature doesn’t bother to look back to wave as you disappear into history.

Surely light sabers are the solution. (/s)

I remember reading Rachel Carson’s “Silent Spring” decades ago. Climate change is not a new-found problem.

Hey, is that where they get their tablets that float on water? If I were they, I would be think of the Second Law of Thermodynamics about now.

Considering that this story is placed Before the Common Era (BC), the earth hasn’t seen real abuse yet!

Wonder how the earth is relatively silent in this era in spite of the abuse by humans.
