Most Starbucks customers have jobs. They have money and they are trying to wake up for work.

They’re not loafers per se. They have job, but they’re telling their bosses they’re WFH.

The old saw, when you point a finger, you have four more pointed at yourself.

What rat say not make sense. If they is cafe loafers it means they has too much money to spend by sit around there loafing. Then why they go to work?

The folks in the local Starbucks are either going to work, college students on their laptops, or folks taking a break from shopping, shoots down your theory, Rat !

If the supply of labor is low, the cost of labor goes up. You have to pay them more.

And the prices don’t go down when the payroll does, so why must it increase when the payroll does?

It’s amazing that “capitalists” don’t seem to grasp this.

Inflation is worldwide and largely driven by Putin’s war. “We” are 5% of humanity. “We” can’t even get half of “us” to believe the globe is warming, that some women will die without abortions, that every child should be vaccinated, etc., etc., ad nauseam. Starbucks is a refuge in a nation of idiots, which will probably never recover from the self-inflicted wound of 2016.

Looks like a certain NYT columnist who used to be an economist has come competition.

The least appetizing repast may be vastly improved by a greater hunger.

Product cost has only a secondary effect on price. Supply and demand rule.

Except that is a bogus explanation of what causes inflation, at any time and under any circumstance. Inflation is caused by government printing and distributing freshly minted dollars, and nothing else.

Rising prices of any good or service is a reaction to that inflation.

This guy came into Starbucks alone and didn’t look at his phone or write anything down, he had no one to talk to.

He just sat there drinking coffee, like a psychopath.

How can you live without money?

He should have gone out to all the street intersections where the lazy people are pretending to be homeless and beg for money. Tell them to walk into any store and they will be hired. But they don’t want to work. I know; I’ve talked with them. Sad!

This generation needs a reality check…and I don’t mean reality shows…that’s the problem…

Some people could tell Rat the same thing. But I will say the labor shortage, whether it is organic to our economic conditions or artificial because of different actions, is a grind to some of us who have stayed in the labor force and stuck it out. In the call center where I work, we are still short people and so is the industry where most of our calls come as our company provides vital support to them. The result is that we have been backed up in our work, and some of those we speak to at either impatient or don’t quite have the best communication skills. I guess in my case if more people were working, our own activities at my company would be more manageable.

I liked it better when the strip was mad at CEOs the other week.

The funny thing about this is, the majority of people you see hanging out in Starbucks HAVE jobs, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to afford Starbucks. Sure, there’s a few just hanging around for the free wi-fi, but most just have schedules that allow them time to hang out there while people who still think of jobs solely in terms of 9-5 M-F assume they must not work.

What about the Audi shortage? I want an Audi but can’t get one for the amount I want to pay!

Inflation is always caused by government spending.

wrong place. This is what happens when you keep sending stimulus packages willy nilly. Laziness abounds. People would rather keep collecting those checks or beg on street corners.

Today I noticed that Stephen Pastis is using Copy / Paste a LOT .. look at Rat in panels 2, 3, and 4.. he’s the same. Weird thing is, goat is not copied.

Never stepping inside union-busting starbucks again.

I’ve ignored rats before and will probably do it again.

Inflation’s not defined by high wages, it’s defined by high prices. Prices are set by the owners of the means of production. Wages are what alienated workers get in lieu of a share of ownership of the means of production. Lower wages won’t drive down prices. Since workers and consumers are largely the same people, low wages will make inflation far more painful.

I have a marvelous idea. A final solution to the problem of café loafers. We go through all the cafés in the country, and spread pamphlets explaining how it’s better to 1: buy and brew your own coffee/tea at home (I recommend Mystic Monk Coffee), and 2: get off your @$$ and go get a job.

I always wear my cafe loafers when I go out for coffee…
