Rover from “Red and Rover” would have loved the last panel.
“Red and Rover” seems to be set from the late 1960s to the mid-1970s so it’s later setting is shortly before the first Garfield strips. One of the clues to the later setting is that one of them mentions the 1975 movie Jaws. Mostly they seem to be set in the late 1960s.
I asked for a Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks in London yesterday morning, only to be told that the “season is over” and they had the winter things now. So I had a gingerbread latte instead.

There’s little worse than pumpkin spiced anything – except maybe for a tv “news” reporter who says, “punkin” and doesn’t have a clue.

The pumpkin strikes back in the last panel! Also, I myself actually enjoy a pumpkin pie blizzard from Dairy Queen during the fall.

Pumpkin spice actually doesn’t have pumpkin in it. It’s the seasonings that are added to the pumpkin.
