Also, do not forget to clean the HEPA filter, get all the hair out of the beater bar bristles, lubricate the motors in the vacuum cleaner and beater bar, and polish the brass blades on the power plug after each use. Frank is way too easy.
Frank really screwed up here, and by this time he should know to coach LuAnn through doing these steps and not do them himself. Memory retention by repetition.
At least 2 people here are saying Luann should move out because she is old enough. As if age is the only factor in moving out. Are you birds? Kicking them out of the nest? For crying out loud, how much do you think it costs to rent a room or an aprtment? And pay for food, gas, insurance, utilities? OMG it isn’t 1952 anymore, (year based on the collective attitude of a lot of posters here) although as a society we seem to be heading thast way.
Reminds me, in reverse, of something I pulled on my daughter (now 28) when she was a teenager. She asked if I could microwave a Hot Pocket for her. I said, “Sure, just take it out of the freezer, okay?” She did. Then I said, “Can you just take it out of the box and put it in the microwaving sleeve?” She did. Then it was, “Just put it on a plate . . . just put it in the microwave . . . press the two-minute button . . . .” The microwave was humming away by the time she realized what I’d done.
Hey everyone! Just wanted to give you an update regarding my hands. I saw my doctor today and got a prescription ointment and an antibiotic. My doctor says it is a severe allergic reaction to the acrylic paints I was using and that in the future I should wear plastic gloves when using them. I may just pass those paints onto someone else and go back to my (safe) watercolors. Anyway, thanks so much to all those who held good thoughts for me. I appreciate it more than you know!
Luann seems to be the brunt of Greg’s or Karen’s) lack of imagination. Come on, give us a major story line with LUANN the central character instead of her being on the sidelines. I’m kinda tired of her being kicked to the curb as a minor character. Give Luann a new opportunity – employment, career aspiration, romantic interest, SOMETHING that helps us see that she really is a strong, capable young woman who has a lot of promise. Geez.
The humor in today’s comic is that Luann is basically saying that she’ll leave the vacuum out next time for Frank to put away, under the guise of his “showing her again”. Rather juvenile, but I don’t think it’s quite a mortal sin for her to have that attitude, especially if Frank is so willing to do the work for her. It’s a comic, after all. I didn’t understand what my dad was trying to tell me about scrubbing the pots and pans, so he went to the sink and showed me how he wanted them scrubbed, inside and out. I knew there would be no repeat demonstration, though, and I would never have implied that there would be. But I admittedly was not 19 – I was about 13 or 14, as others have mentioned here. (Real world versus comic world, lol).
I also don’t see a problem with Luann still living at home, as long as she is doing productive things – she is working and going to school. The rule at my home was that anybody could live at home at any age as long as they were working or going to school. When one of my sisters was just working part-time and spending every night out partying, my mother did ask her to leave. Best (though hardest) thing she could have done. Sis turned her life around and became a model citizen. When one of my brothers wanted to move to back to our state, Mom welcomed him and his family of wife and 2 kids to live at home her while he got his business started. But any siblings who wanted to just bum around wouldn’t have been tolerated.
Reminds me of the little kid who got a reputation for being dumb. The older kids would have fun offering him a nickel or a dime, and he would always take the nickel. One day one of his playmates asked him if he knew that the smaller coin was worth twice as much, and he said, “Yup, but this way, they keep giving me nickels.”

You don’t need to empty the dirt bin every time, after you use the vacuum cleaner.
But yea, she should have at least wound up the cord.
Don’t strips like this always make you feel like Luann is 14 yrs old again??
Templo S.U.D. about 2 years ago
Even my vacuum cleaner has a detachable bin. As for its cord, it’s retractable.

Quite the “slave-driver” aren’t we, Frank?
Jeeze, after nearly 40 years, Lu just got to the point where she actually, occasionally, cleans her room.
So take that “w” and give it a rest will ya?
And if you’re nit-pic about vacuums, then get Lu a Roomba or something.

Frank love to give the good exemple to his daughter. Luann is just happy to give him the opportunity to do it.

Let’s see, wrap up the dirt bin. How do you empty the cord again?

Frank talks to Luann the way you would a small child or disabled adult.
OneTime59 about 2 years ago
Slick and clever by Luann. Frank just might fall for that move again.

This is just like Luann’s “writing” Vale’s essay for him.

“A job finished is not a job done”…. Semantics, anyone?
locake about 2 years ago
Frank is confused. Finished and done mean the same thing. A job finished IS a job done.

Looks like another installment of “teens suck; Luann will prove it” on our hands:

Would a 14 year old Luann actually remember to vacuum?

Hey, Dad, don’t know the details when Luann is still willing to do the larger job of vacuuming the house.

She still remembers that — fondly.

Used to be, instead of emptying the dirt bin, we’d change the filter bag. The dirt bins seem to have less capacity than the filter bags.

“A job finished isn’t a job done?” That makes zero sense. Especially when Dad’s point is that Luann hasn’t finished the job.
