So Luann likes to write about things that are funny. She submitted a funny story for the contest. Just now she threw a funny metaphor to awaken the imagination. Perhaps she can write a book of jokes and puns. These are short compositions which is perfect for her.
“Fee Fi Fo Fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman.”
That just came to me all of a sudden. And now, I have writer’s block – I have been trying to think of where I might possibly go with this for hours. I’ll let you guys know If I’m able to do anything with it.
It’s about time that Luann’s old high school class holds a reunion. The oldies could all return for an evening of fun and memories, and Luann could write a retrospective and read it from the podium. As she was motivated by her tape recorder to write her humorous story, she could be motivated by the reunion to recall some of the fun and adventures they all shared. As he did with the tape recorder arc, Greg could include the original drawings from that era. Not a long stay, just a cameo for the missing characters.
Is this a wink for Luann’s future career as a screenwriter? Because that’s where I absolutely hope her writing skills will lead her. Not to “Riverdale”, but to something more entertaining and able to bring happiness to the audience as well as a lot of entertainment. For me the best would be for Luann to be a screenwriter for cartoons, something like “Bob’s Burger” or “Craig of the Creek” with funny characters full of humanity, very united and not stupid. But Luann would probably prefer to write for the theater. She will write musicals! By the way, Tara is still an amazing and supportive friend ♡.
Luann is creative when she excited. She went into gleeful theatrics during the tutoring session. Luann is just not cognizant to write ’em down afterwards, like Vale did.
Don’t knock lack of imagination, Luann. It’s worked for 43 seaons of Survivor, 22 seasons of The Bachelor, multiple versions of CSI along with remakes of many movies like The Karate Kid and Arthur (to name a couple).
It’s amazing how profitable lack of imagination can be
Say Lu? If you’re binge-watch something for inspiration, I’d suggest “Lower Decks” on Paramount Plus.
It’s the BEST (Satirical) Star Trek spin-off out there. And unlike (GAG) “Discovery,” it inheres mostly to long time Star Trek canon.
Plus, the show centers on a female starship captain and her hyper-rebellious daughter who’s an ensign. And the ship’s doctor is a crusty “feline” with an obscenity laden attitude that makes Doctor McCoy look tame.
Not a “Trekkie,” huh?
Then I suggest taking a peek at tonight’s Saturday Night Live hosted by Dave Chapelle, and go the controversy route for inspiration.
That’s provided the “powers that be,” don’t chicken out at the last minute and cancel the show……,
Luann has ideas but they weren’t coming to the surface so she put them in the microwave and they jiggled and jiggled and heated up, jiggled more and finally they burst out of their container.

“I’m beginning to think Tara is brought to the strip solely to mirror Luann, for her to see herself for who she is – a boring, bland, uninteresting, gutless, unimaginative, not to smart teenager/young adult. Tara is energetic, adventurous, gutsy, curious, creative (except when she says “I’m kidding!”) smarter (she got in at Moony University – universities are harder to get in than community colleges – have to get in by the base score on the ACT Test)…and she has been showcasing all that and gradually, Luann will begin to see that and realize just how opposite she is.”
Which is exceedingly prescient. Unfortunately she was on to opine:
" … Will [Luann] then decide she wants to be a different person? Have an epiphany? A life changer. God, I hope so because she is SO boring."
Sorry to say Ms cap your wish has not come to be yet.
This is a nice end to the arc. Luann (off-panel) can write a story titled “Imaginationless” about the events that led her to come up with the word and we can see a future arc follow-up on her slowly budding career as a humor writer :)
BIG difference between imagination and making things up…uh, uh, uh, well just because I can’t think up what it might be….never mind, I’ll make up something.
Well, the idea “Popped”, but she doesn’t seem to realize it or know what to do with it.Maybe she should go back to recording her own thoughts, and writing from them.
As fun as it is watching Luann go through Impostor Syndrome, I was hoping to see Stef’s reaction upon opening the door to her dorm room and discovering Tiff and her things are gone.
“Riverdale” name check in the second panel? I’ve said for years that the comparisons to Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Forsythe Jones, Veronica Lodge, Moose Mason, etc. in this strip were obvious. And there’s the evidence.

May want to rethink binging Riverdale, Luann. First few seasons were okay but then it seriously jumps the shark.
Looks like this is a wrap for this arc. Will we go back to Tiff and Les on Monday or maybe some Brad & Toni?

So she can be creative just so long as no one says she’s being creative. Like the Invisible Man who is only invisible when no one is looking.
