I wonder if Iggy is pleased to have other members of the household “popping”, or confused about why he was told to stop if everyone else was just going to start?
Well, it looks like our part of N.E. Iowa is in the sights of the oncoming winter storm. We will be going out to a medical appt, then the last Weds Advent service, and a last stop by the grocery store (there is always something that was forgotten) today and then staying home for several days. We haven’t had a snowy Christmas for several years, but we really could do without a blizzard. Even after the snow moves out we will have a very windy Friday. Except for necessary forays out with the dog, we will stay snuggly inside.
Stay safe and warm everyone who is in the storm path and special good wishes to anyone trying to travel these next few days. In the immortal words of Hill Street Blues…be careful out there!
I was in the dentist’s office Monday morning. Was only half listening to the Christmas songs on the PA system when I realized they were playing “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”. I thought of the Orb and smiled. Still have the earworm!
Why are the children not making red and green construction paper chains to hang around the house? Stringing cereal on yarn? Who gets the prize at the bottom of the box?
We used to string popcorn and cranberries, but never cereal. Cereal was what we usually ate while we were stringing popcorn and cranberries. Then we would be kept busy making red and green construction paper chains to keep us out of our parents hair and add to the decorations already out. We were always excited to see the cranberry and popcorn strands on the tree when it was put up on Christmas eve.
My favorite detail in this is the speech bubbles in panel 3 showing Ora Zella and the Boy participating in the popping. We have some talented multi-taskers in this group, especially the Man making popcorn while holding two cats. This is one I would absolutely adore seeing recreated in real life.
I plan to try to make gingerbread cookies tomorrow, my first ever attempt. I’m not sure what shapes l will cut them. I’ll probably avoid making them in my own image, however, to avoid the dark voodoo Elvis warned of though
At my last stop on what I hope will be my final shopping trip before Christmas, I found what may well be the last carton of spumoni ice cream in SW Ohio in a place I’d totally forgotten even had a freezer section.
I thought the werewolf had been given a microphone until I zoomed in. Turns out Puck’s ear and the blue in the pattern of the Man’s shirt look an awfully lot like a BCN mic.
What coincidence. Me was eating popcorn just a while ago. Say when does new comics appears on GC? It 10:50 AM here and still yesterday’s comic is latest. Earlier it used to be appears at around 10:40AM or something.

That is a clever idea to put tape on the end of the yarn to make it easier to put the cereal on it.

Are they popping the popcorn in an instant pot?

Looks like Tortie-Cutie likes to be where the People action is and Iggy likes to hang out with the reporters.

Cats can be so therapeutic. They do help me slow down, especially when I’m pinned by a sleeping cat.

I hope no one in the Orb was impacted by the earthquake in Northern California; but if you are, I hope you and your friends and family are safe.

Love how Puck is cradled in (and reporting from) the Man’s arm.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
At the Artisans’ Studio
Sophititi: It’s been rather fun showing young Iggy Shipwright how we create our projects.
Maat-Tilda: But I have to wonder about some of the things he’s asked about. Creating clothing, for example.
Adobe Style: You have to wonder if it has anything to do with the un-crime wave.
Tillie: It’s time for lunch. Let’s see if we have anything in the studio pantry.
At the Lunch Room
Iron Glove: Ooh, my favorite cranberry star gazing goo!
Tillie: And here’s popcorn with a honey glaze and peanuts! How cracker jack!
Sophititi: What a lovely feast. But who prepared it?
Iggy and Ora Z: (We’ll never tell!)

All the peaceful, old-fashioned Christmas activities; It makes me want to go back to bed and sleep (still recovering from covid).

No need to tape the end of the chain of Os. Just tie the yarn through the first cereal O in the chain. The rest won’t slip off.

Somehow I imagined cranberry goo scooped with a melon baller and strung in a semi-frozen state. That’s probaby just me. :)

Stringing popcorn is easier if you leave it out a few days to get a little stale. Keeps the popped kernels from falling apart from the needle.

How today started for a telemarketer pretending she was an actual employee of a Medicare Advantage plan:
“Hi, I’m calling from (health insurance company) to talk to Susan about some free medical devices she can qualify for! Can I speak with her?”
How it’s going:
“Um … well … er … uh … no. No, sir. I was not aware of that.”
