I’ve never liked eggnog, whether kid, teen or adult. The CONCEPT seems okay as an adult, but I simply don’t like nutmeg in quantities sufficient to let you taste it as a distinct flavor. The once or twice that I actually made it, I liked it okay, but nobody else thought it tasted “right”. Oh well.

Just how diffi-cult would it have been to draw the balloon large enough to avoid syllabifying “eggnog”?

I seem to recall (from when I was a kid) some kind of medicine that kind of had the consistency, color. and taste of eggnog.

That was one Christmas ‘confection’ I didn’t mind skipping. Even the scent turned me off. But that just meant more for folks that liked it – or claimed they did. Wassail anybody?

As to Frazz’ dilemma, a lot of parents have wondered what mischievous spirit arrived on the 13th birthday of their offspring. Seems there were total body-mind realignments and a whole new person emerged. I saw it as a parent and as a middle school teacher. Eerie, even though I went through the same process in my time and just don’t remember it.

Frazz said “soda”. If he was a true Michigander, that word would never have crossed his lips in referring to the fizzy stuff!

I dream of eggnog season the way some folks do of pumpkin spice. I consume it by the gallon, this year I’m up to 8 and expect to make 12 by the New Year. The stuff drives my cardiologist and nutritionist nuts every Thanksgiving to new year. Something about cholesterol and fats and sugars just doesn’t ring right with them.

There is a crossover point, and it’s delicious. I prefer Coke or root beer, but grape soda might work. To reduce the fat & sugar, I include skim milk. So the perfect mix is: 1/3 soda pop, 1/3 milk, and 1/3 eggnog. Just ask Lindsay Lohan.

One of my yearly Christmas presents are grape and lemon lime soda from a local bottler. This is not 7up lemon lime either but old style green lemon lime. I love grape soda.

    Or two points.

Depending on which came first, someone in that scenario could for a time like neither or both.

I’ll leave the question of mixing the two as an exercise for the reader. Or rather, exercises.

I love light eggnog. I also love eggnog liqueur from Trader Joe’s. Japanese grape soda is better than the US stuff, though I love the nonalcoholic chardonnay we got one year. Microbreweries that make soda (like Sprecher’s in WI) make better sodas IMHO. Sprecher’s is at BevMo, so I don’t have to be homesick or order from the brewery.

I used to like drinking eggnog when I was a kid. Oddly enough, what ruined it for me was when I got older and had some with alcohol in it.

It’s the rum that makes eggnog good… Fun Fct: the ‘nog’ refers to alcohol…

I’ve been an adult for quite some time now, hell even my kids have been adults for quite some while, trust me – you never outgrow grape soda. It has the great taste of purple. And I’ve liked eggnog ever since I was a kid.

A grape soda would be made with ice cream, soda water and grape flavoring. Actually sounds like it would be tasty.

I pour a jigger of white rum into an old-fashioned glass, fill it with the grocery store egg-nog & stir it up. Then I put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes to thicken it back up again.

I remember drinking egg nog as a child but don’t remember what it was like.

I still like grape soda. A news story I read today says kudzu has a smell that gives people a craving for it.

I remember one year when I came back to school, it seemed like puberty had changed all my classmates into foul-mouthed sex fiends. Didn’t help that it was about the same time “tube tops” became popular for awhile.
