1971 I resolved not ever make any more New Year resolutions. The only one I ever kept.

Welcome the New Year’s Resolution. Same as the Old Year’s Resolution.

Why does she find that so hard to believe? Arlo is content with his life. A good example for us all.

Ok, I’ll start: I get that Janis feels Arlo has some improving to do, but why no color?

There is no need to “resolve” anything. If you’re doing something that you know you shouldn’t……..stop doing it. You don’t have to wait for New Year’s Day.

Never made one myself. If I need to change something, I make the change when I realize it needs doing.

Right now the lap swimming lanes are generally open and you get one to yourself. Next week the annual New Year’s Resolution crowd will show up and it will be crowded, but only for about two weeks and then it’s back to normal.

Mine is to be alive all the way through 2023. Go big or move on.

Guess Arlo needs Janis to make him a list to look over…

I hereby resolve to make only one New Year’s resolution

A long, long time ago I made a resolution never to make any new year’s resolutions. And I kept it.

I recall commenting recently that I never made resolutions, but was also recently reminded that I did once. It was a NYE party in a local small town bar in the early 90’s. I was working the door as a bouncer and some little tart sidled up to me and asked what my resolution was. i looked at her and said “I resolve to drink more beer”. Several people laughed saying that was impossible to do. Turns out they were right.

Look like Arlo’s new year’s resolution is do not have new year resolutions.

I take each new day as a challenge, and pretty much wing-it…..

I resolved to make no more resolutions and I kept that resolution.

(Besides, resolutions imply imperfections.)

If something “needs” to be done — or is simply worth doing, — I either do it or I don’t. “Resolving” to do it has no effect on the outcome.

I stopped doing that years ago. If I need to change something I do it.

Can’t improve on perfection…..

One resolution I’ve kept since it was suggested to me decades ago: I resolve NOT to get a job as a jazz singer in a Venezuelan cabaret.

I think Janis is just amazed that Arlo, who could improve in so many ways (in her opinion), is not making resolutions. Or, after all these years of marriage, he is suddenly not making resolutions. It could go either way.

Every year for the last several decades, I make exactly one resolution that I invariably keep; “I resolve to make only one New Year’s Resolution this year”. The rest is up for grabs.

Jimmy’s resolution is to give his colorist more days off.

Don’t wait until New Years. If you recognize something you need to change, don’t “resolve” to do it later… do it NOW!

My last New Year’s resolution was about 10-15 years ago. I resolved to never again make another New Year’s resolution. Doing pretty good so far.

My New Year’s resolution when I belonged to a gym, was to not go to the gym during January. Now a days it’s don’t make any resolutions.
