She is about to tell you what you can do with that comment. You can drive her home now, or give her the key to the car and sit on the curb of the park spot while shoppers cuss you for blocking a perfectly good parking place or take the bus home. The first is your best option.
Don’t just sit there Earl, Put the car in reverse, So people stop and wait and wait for you to pull out. Then put it in park and repeat in 5 minutes.
Looks like Earl left the headlights on. Now, when he tries to start the car, there won’t be enough juice in the battery. He just might have his dream parking spot forever!
When I was a little panda, I’d accompany my Aunt Lena to the store, she’d circle the lot looking for a good spot. Around and around we’d go. Sometimes, it seemed it’d been quicker to walk uptown, instead of driving.
Get used to the seat Earl, it’s probably more comfortable than the couch you’ll be directed to tonight. And wait till you see the tip she gives the Taxi driver, to make statement.
Opal should take him up on it! When she gets home, set a pillow and blanket on the couch for Earl, and fix HERSELF a nice dinner. In the morning, fix HERSELF a nice breakfast, etc.
Even yesterday I was wondering if he was in a legal parking place. There are no lines on the parking lot. If he had a cell phone he could take a picture of his parking spot.
I see Earl spending many nights on the couch for his suggestion in the last panel. You see, Opal can make those sarcastic remarks to him but he can’t reciprocate. She derives much enjoyment putting him down. He needs to tell her flat out to stop her snide remarks.

Maybe a bird will make him leave. Maybe there was a reason nobody else parked here.

IIRC there was a Mad Magazine cartoon about a guy in NYC who got a parking space in front of his brownstone and never moved the car again.

I think it’s a’51 starlight coup, wraparound rear window and no backseat.
flemmingo about 2 years ago
Nothing wrong with Earl driving a classic. You don’t see many Studebakers around.

I think he should start the car, drop Opal off at the bus stop and head for Happy Hour at Elmer’s Beer Swamp!
