Mother’s Day should be celebrated every day. Mums should be spoiled and treated like royalty every single day of the year.

This holiday is for the birds!

To answer Snoopy’s question, for the ones that don’t commemmorate an actual event, I think it’s retailers that invent them.

Long before this, there was a strip that had Charlie Brown and Snoopy looking for a Mother’s Day card for Snoopy’s mom. They decided on one that read, “Dear Mom. You are the sweetest mother. I love you more than any other.” Snoopy just kept going, “Wahhh!” as they bought , addressed, and mailed it, causing CB to say, “These holidays are hard on us all.”

At the top of the cartoon are several ways to say Mom in different languages. Does anyone know which language ANAQ is ?

H. L. Mencken said that holidays were just excuses to pay royalties to Irving Berlin, though I don’t know if Berlin ever wrote a song about Mother’s Day.

Upon reflection, Woody might realized that a gilded cage for old mum might be just the place for her to live out her remaining years. For those of you that still have moms, visit them today. For those of us, whose moms have already gone on, remember them.

As before, Woodstock’s plight reminds us not everyone grows up blessed to have a loving mother in their lives. I do wish you all a pleasant Sunday and pray you have others in your lives now that bless you. And a Happy Mother’s Day for all mothers.

I hope it’s a gilded cage at least.

One thing I love about this strip is that the characters make the same mistakes as real people.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! Another angle to consider: Not all moms are good moms. Some kids (little and big) only feel a lot of hurt on mother’s day when all they see are messages about a family situation that just doesn’t apply to them. So while I will be wishing a sincere happy mother’s day to many people today (my own mom included!), I think it’s important to keep in mind that this day – and its counterpart in june – are not universally happy days for everyone in our lives.

Now, Snoopy, be nice. Woodstock is being optimistic.
