We lived this scene last night. The only differences were it was earlier in the evening so we were still dressed and we were standing in the open front door watching the storm finally pass, the lighting was just as intense but no hail.

We had a tremendous thunder storm at an adult summer camp weekend, so there were no campfire s’mores that night. Lightning strikes were so frequent that I finally video recorded lightning for the first time.

Is this one of those “can you spot six differences between the first and last panels?” strips?

I was told by my Mom to never go to a window in a thunder storm. It’s the first thing I do when I hear thunder.

Hubby and our then three-year old granddaughter were sitting on the front porch, watching a storm when lightning struck a tree about 80 feet away. Sheets of bark and splinters exploded everywhere. Amanda slid off Hubby’s lamp and announced, “I think it’s time to go in, Grandpop”.

“I agree with you. Let’s go.”

About 10 years ago, a friend of mine in NC was struck dead by a lighting bolt that supposedly traveled over five miles. Whenever I hear thunder or see lightning I always think of him. Steve was good young man in his thirties with a full life ahead of him. He is missed.

Time to fire up AC/DC " ThunderStruck" Awhile back they were painting or doing some kind of home improvement and Janis said something about playing AC/DC and people started talking about how a lot of their songs are very suggestive.

That depends on just how close that lightning strike was and whether or not you have lightning arrestors or a whole house surge protector. If you don’t, you should invest in one after you replace all your fried electronics, starting with your TVs and computers, but also including your frig, washing machine and HVAC system.

Most pets hate the sound of thunder because of the change in air pressure hurts their ears. For mine, I just turn on country music and they settle down and relax.

Many years ago, after a thunderstorm had passed through the area, a woman said a blue ball of energy floated through her living room and then disappeared without causing any damage.

They should move away from the window if the interval between the flash and sound gets to be less than two panels.

When I in awesome wonder, consider all the worlds thy hands have made. I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, the universe thy wonders do display. (Not sure if that is 100% correct, but you get the jist of it.)

I enjoy watching (and hearing) thunder and lightning storms now, but as a kid I was afraid of them … not being scared because of the menace of the storms themselves, but I was afraid that lightning would strike our house and cause a house fire, and I wouldn’t be able to get out. A kid in our neighborhood had died in a house fire (not caused by lightning) at one point, and that made a big impression on me.

Been there, done that. You can tell how frightened she is by how tight she holds you. And by how many cats have skedaddled under the closest bed.
