If my 15 year old daughter tried that on me (she wouldn’t, she’s too smart for that), I’d sign the doc as Nigel Tufnel. Then I’d say “you’re past 11.” However, knowing her smarts, she’d probably bring in something like a Stranger Things Eleven Clause. No kidding, she wants to be a lawyer!
When I was little I would occasionally try to duplicate Calvin’s conduct in strips like this in order to harass my parents. My understanding of Calvin’s vocabulary was so imperfect that my attempts to channel him were pretty incoherent. This was definitely for the best.
Actually some parts of it form the unwritten but often faced dilemmas that new parents face. What am I doing? and what the h___ should I do now? : ) Our boys are now in their 50’s, doing well, still hugging us a lot, and we still don’t know if what we did answered those questions correctly.
Parenting is a lifetime commitment with tremendous responsibility and requires absolutely no training. Any fool can become a parent, based on what is going on in Washington these days, lots of fools have had kids.
Calvin actually has a point. He wants to use it as an excuse to behave badly and leach off the system when he’s older (like people who claim to not be able to hold a job because of autism or some other condition they weren’t actually diagnosed with) but the idea of would be parents needing to prove some level of competency before having kids does have an appeal.
It would definitely raise the intelligence level of our country, help the environment and destroy welfare. I think that Calvin has the answer for Biden! If it was only 100 years ago for this thought, then we would never had a Biden!
me either.I have never been able to understand why the mere act of procreation is supposed to make people experts at everything from psychology to education.

Dad should be proud, some of his legal skills have rubbed off on Calvin.

Calvin is pretty knowledgeable, when he’s not in school…..

Because the paper was made by a kid whom hardly anyone takes seriously. That kid being you, Calvin.

Calvin must’ve just seen the Dinosaurs episode where Earl and Fran lost their parenting license!

That’s it, place the blame on someone else!!!!

Even if Dad did pay for the counseling, Calvin would still have to do the time.

Anyone ever wonder what kind of a father Calvin may grow up to be? Mmmmmmmm.
Macushlalondra about 1 year ago
Someone must be doing something right. Calvin is awfully young to be using words like perpetuity and ineptitude.

Neither do I. :D

If I were Calvin’s dad, I’d demand a refund.

I completely agree with Calvin on this one. And I’m a father.

It was an interesting idea, in theory, Calvin…however, in real life…
Ol' me about 1 year ago
These days, I think that would be a good idea.

I’m sort of surprised that Calvin could sit down after that stunt…

You need a license to drive a car. Having a kid is MUCH more dangerous to society.

Probably the same reason people don’t have to sign a waiver to swim in the ocean. Life! Live it at your own risk.

This is where Dad says, “You are not my first time parenting. Shhh, don’t tell Mom.”

Another Calvin truism.

The contract as written is invalid, as it lacks consideration. Consideration here means a contract has to give something to both parties.

Is it some kind of law that dads have to read everything out loud? My dad’s just like that.

How does he get so much expression in Calvin’s face in the last panel with just a few lines? That’s some talent.
