I tried reading Anna Karenina. I was engrossed by the first chapter, but totally lost in the second.

I remember these strips from the newspaper, but I think it took years before I realised that it wasn’t Linus. Rerun’s birth must have been before I was old enough to read, and our collected Peanuts books only had Lucy and Linus with no younger sibling.

Is the dog’s name Anna? (And does it start to careen-in-a second after being hit?)

The original date of this strip was November 1, 1976. It was not the day after the end of the Patty-Snoopy story. That story ended November 29th. The original November 30th strip was Linus talking about Halloween being tomorrow. Obviously, that strip has to be delayed until Monday.

If Rerun went by the striking SAG/AFTRA actors on the picket lines (who rumor has it with talks this weekend the started in July 2023 SAG/AFTRA actors strike could be over before Halloween with an approved deal so that scripted TV and movies for midseason 2024 target can be saved and not get Hollywood into bankruptcy or something like that), he would throw that same “Anna Karinia” book at them,.

Now, this is funny. Linus checks out a copy of Anna Karenina just to deal with the dog. Not that he plans on reading the book but just because its the right weight to take out the dog. He must pile up a lot of overdue fees.

They will however get a fee from the library when the book isn’t returned on time (or at all).

Dorothy Parker once described a book as “not to be tossed aside lightly. It should be hurled with great force.”
