In the 1950s it used to be that everything was blamed on radioactive fallout.

And they were right, I and everyone else in my generation have the “sunshine units” to prove it.

As I understood it, the expansion of materials from induced heat causes the individual summer days to be longer. Still, the increased molecular motion from induced heat would make the overall days move faster.

The fact that at least they’re not vaping makes this comic a “classic”, yes?

I’m pretty sure that those three consecutive months of over 110-degree weather must have seemed like forever in Arizona

It’s scientifically proven that weekends only last 5 minutes, whereas Monday mornings go on forever.

This toon could have easily been drawn this year. Willful ignorance and stupidity having grown in leaps and bounds since 1999 so that now we find ourselves trapped by the massively stupid House GQP RW Idiocracy as they ensure we will have to endure still another GQP Government shutdown. The same political party(GQP) that came within days of forcing the US to default on our obligations. Which would have caused massive economic problems(still another Trump idea as a way to cancel the debt that he along with a GQP majority congress had increased by 25%- $5TrillionUSD)(After all it worked for Trump who declared bankruptcy 5 times as a way to walk away without paying his debts) due to the weakest Speaker of the House ever and a political Party in charge of the House that is totally unable to walk and chew gum at the same time. Rather than do the job they were actually elected to do which is to come up with a budget prior to Sep 30, they have spent every minute since they took over the House on Jan 7, 2023 flailing around with Hunter Bidens laptop(Trump appointed David Weiss in 2018 to “investigate” Hunter Bidens laptop)Biden did not fire him, but allowed him to continue his endless “investigation” to try and find something they can use to impeach Biden, as ordered by their cult leader Trump. Despite the fact that no evidence has been found so far proving that Biden did anything wrong. If the House GQP can’t find any actual evidence they will continue their pogrom of inuendo and lies and the protofascist GQP House Freedum Caucus will “discover” aka make up some evidence to impeach Biden. Anything to please cult leader Trump who has been charged with 91 felonies in 4 different states

The current race to shut down the Government in 9 days is brought to you by the cult Trump MAGAts of the GQP. A Party that has been “investigating” Hunter Biden since 2018 in hope of finding something they can use to impeach Joe Biden.

From Memorial Day (last Monday in May) to Labor Day (first Monday in September) is always 14 weeks, except for one year in seven when it’s 15 weeks. 1999 was not one of those years, so she’s technically correct;* that summer was the shortest on record, tied with 86% of all other years.

    *the best kind of correct

So I pose this question; is Summer exothermic or endothermic?

Of course a summer lasted forever when we were kids! And a year really lasted forever.

When you’re 10 years old, a year is 1/10 of your whole life – and each season (4 a year) would be about 1/40 of your life. Now at age 65, a year is only 1/65 of my whole life, and a summer would be 1/260 of my life – basically the blink of an eye!

The reason time flies is that when your 10, a year is like 10% of your life. When you’re 50, it’s only 2% of your life. Of COURSE that’s shorter!

It’s the ratio of length of unit time to time lived. A year at 7 is 1/7 of your life time. A year at 70 is 1/70 of your lifetime. Everyone knows that 1/70 is smaller than 1/7.

I cannot prove it, but I know it’s true. June is the finest month of the year, and gives us time to regenerate from Winter. But after July 4th, the waves somehow pick up, speeding up time and we’re at August 1st , as we are finally adjusting to Summer. But by now, the stores have all the Halloween candy out, and we are past Labor Day weekend already! Then, time settles down to a constant three months until mid-December, and the clocks crawl along, day after drab day, until we are crawling toward April, when time picks up the pace a little, as we head for that marvelous June again! Einstein is right: Time IS relative (and variable!)
