Yep. They made it legal in some states, then did their best to make it unprofitable for the legal operators to operate. My guess is that is the aim, to make it fail, so they can then claim ‘legalisation didn’t stop illegal sales’, so they end up reverting to the ban on legal sales as well.Cynical, but this is what governments do.

Instead of solving problems with illegal drugs by legalizing pot it just makes the black market stronger because of the greed involved by making legal weed too expensive. The ONLY good thing about legal weed is you can’t go to jail.

Curse those people selling drugs illegally, time to declare war on them.

only government could screw up selling weed. Because of regulation and taxes, legal week is more expensive. Economics is hard.

Government made some mistakes with legalization. One of them was overtaxing. It left things wide open for a black market. Nothing wrong with taxation. You can’t get greedy, though.

If it’s New York, the slow rollout, is to make sure the mafia gets the lions share from the illicit market before the home growing moratorium expires in a few months. Which will tank the legal market’s early investors.
