Does Mike really not remember that Alex warned him this would happen? I suspect realizing her father is an idiot has more to do with her ‘growing up’ than boys.
Many years ago Microsoft stole Nortons Anti-virus code and released it for free in Windows. What Microsoft didn’t know was that the Norton coders had buried in their Anti-virus program lines of code that did nothing but indentify the code as belonging to Nortons. Nortons engineers quickly went hunting in the new free Microsoft Anti-Virus program code and sure enough found their marker code buried in the Microsoft code. They promply sued Microsoft for theft of property and easily won the case. I forgot how big of a fine Microsoft had to pay and for a year they had to pay for the right to use the stolen anti-virus software
Okay Doonesbury, I get it Alex is growing up, but did her eyes need to change from wide eyed to the half opened Doonesbury norm? and in one strip from panel two to panel four? from Nov 10th https://www.gocomics.Com/doonesbury/2023/11/10?ct=v&cti=28275
Sounds like machine language refactoring. M$ loves to eliminate utility software by including it with the OS. It’s not out of the goodness of their heart.
Microsoft bought a lot of programs and reverse engineered them and claimed they made them a lot in those days. Bill didn’t create anything just stole it.

Mike made the fatal mistake of thinking with his ego instead of his brain.

It’s baffling why Mike wouldn’t sell out to Microsoft. I guess he likes poverty and working with a bunch of guys that hosed his wife

I remember the early days when one program took 4 HOURS to compile!! It was a really large insurance program!

Better than what we guys usually think with-except for me, of course.

I’m genuinely unclear on what principles Mike thinks he’s standing up for, here.

So I still don’t know what a recompiler accelerator is. Does it shoot out garbage at high speeds?

Okay, time to create a soul-destroying virus for Microsoft

Well, there’s more than one way to accelerate a recompiler. Still want to gamble that yours is better?
