Thatâs often the way it is, Brutus, if youâre lucky to have any elevator music at all. Most elevators Iâve been in, lately, are all rather quiet affairs. But, they are fast.
you say that like its a bad thing. itâs better than a lot of what is called music these days, I donât want to be forced to listen to it in an elevator.
So true! Not to mention the irony of hearing a Muzak version of the Whoâs My Generation in a CVS. NO!!! I donât hope I die before I get old(er)!!!!!!!!!
Greg Kihn from the Greg Kihn Band was the morning DJ in bay area classic rock station. I made his day when I told him I heard his song Jeopardy in Vonâs.
Elevator music is too new for my generation. An âoldiesâ dance has music from the 70s to the 90s. Stuff that is too new recognize. I will admit I knew a few bands â maybe 3 or 4 â from in that era [ courtesy of MTV] but then they stopped playing videos and went to other programing. Havenât watched it since. Is it still even broadcasting??

I once heard a Muzak version of Pink Floydâs, âAnother Brick in the Wallâ in a Kmart. It ruined my day!

The first time I heard the Beatles in an elevator, I knew I was old. And that was about 40 years ago.

I tuned into the local oldies station as I was going to the grocery store. The oldies were from the â90âs and the cacophony was atrocious.

I knew things were different when I heard the full Led Zeppelin Immigrant Song in the supermarket. Hard to imagine a Muzak version in an elevator.

Always found it interesting listening to the twists new generations of musicians create when covering songs from âthe past.â

I am not surprised Brutus went to college, but I am entirely shocked that he partied! With music! This is a whole new side of Brutus.
