This is a nightmare, and I don’t mean Brad’s gift…

Seeing as how part of my gift for a friend’s daughters this year was a Burger King crown for each of them, I’m not going to say too much about this one.

Since it’s Saturday, hopefully we’ll get back to the excursion in the blizzard.

At my age, time passes quickly. In regards to this weeks strips, thank goodness!!

Who else got a free toothpick (or maybe some other free thing) from a sibling for Christmas? One year I got a free mini football from my brother.

For a moment they feared he was sick. He outgrew most of it.

Once, the Mrs. got a charm from a gumball machine as a gift. At th time her sister was almost 30 an the Mrs. was two years younger

I hope they don’t linger on memory lane with this plotline, I almost quit reading the strip because I was sick of her crush on whatshisname in grade school. I was very happy when they moved on from that.

Come on Luann, isn’t it the thought that counts??

I’m sure this happened some of the time.. but I remember lots of parents gave their children 5 to 10 dollars to buy their sibling/siblings a present for Christmas.

So, do we go back to the cabin on Monday or start a fresh arc? I’m thinking we start off the New Year with a New Arc.

I still fondly recall when Luann updated her “look”. It was a completely different strip after that. Less goofy.

It’s a good thing that Brad isn’t like that anymore. His behavior with Luann sometimes seemed real hate and contempt. I wonder if it was one of those situations where the eldest son was unable to forgive his younger sibling for having taken his place as the baby in the family. Good thing they really love each other now.

Brad really evolved over the course of the strip. Back then, he’d be a lazy bum and give chintzy gifts. Now, he’s a devoted fireman and husband who’d do anything for his precious Toni.

Ahhhh the good old days when characters used to be known as cheapskates LOL!!!

Every time Brad got those things, he thought of her.

I know Greg needs a vacation, but that’s enough…

OK, I finally give up trying to understand the first panel. How am I to read “Luann’s 1st 6 12-25’s from ’85 2 ’90?” What does that mean? Thanks.

Geez, if Brad hated Luann so much back then, why couldn’t he just say that? Very disgusting! Thank goodness he doesn’t bully her anymore!

Now, can we finally get back to the lodge in the woods and see how Christmas went in 2023?

Gotta get rid of the freebies somehow.

Will next week be Luann working on their new year’s resolutions list?

It would be interesting if on monday the 4 of them are in the cabin (still in front of the fire) reminiscing about past christmases, so that what we have seen this past week is part of that.

Okay, enough of the past six Christmas. Time for something current.

Still not as bad as the time Luann gave all her family members empty boxes for Christmas and said they were filled with love.

“Paint stick”?? Man, that dude is sentimental.

It could have been worse. I got a Hostess Twinkle for one of my earliest Christmas present (and that was it, for real).

We would draw names from a hat, all 5 kids and my parents were in there. That way we only had to buy (or make) one present. We did have to buy the gifts from our allowance though, my parents did not supplement us and there was a $5 limit (at the time, that was a lot of money).

Do Luann and Brad get an allowance for doing daily chores? I recall using my weekly allowance.

Brad is cheap.

The pen from the bank isn’t free, it’s STOLEN.Clearly, Brad has taken gift-giving lessons from Frank.

It’s the thought that counts! Doesn’t count very high…

I really think this strip had an artist change.

Enough of the reruns already.

When it comes to loser Luann, I tend to chuckle at Brad’s Box O’ Treats for her. She is so deserving!
