A talking snake in a magic garden convinces a gullible woman to eat an enchanted (but forbidden) fruit which makes the invisible sky god very angry.

The sin this woman committed? Partaking of the Tree of KNOWLEDGE of good and evil, because there is no greater threat to religion than KNOWLEDGE, especially of right and wrong and social justice, and especially knowledge for a WOMAN.

Daring to want KNOWLEDGE is the enemy of religious superstition and the one thing that can destroy its power to control the ignorant.

If this is suggesting that “stimulus packages” are not useful when there is a severe shortage of aggregate demand, then the cartoon is wrong and the snake is right.

In most depictions the tree only has one apple on it. This one has five. Is that relevant?

The snake took the long view of the study of human Economics, that with the increasing human overpopulation it became appropriately called “the dismal science.”

If they need a stimulant, just direct them to the part of the garden where the coca plants are growing.

According to some, Adam arrived first and screwed up everything he did. So God took pity and sent Eve to show him the way things go. Been that way ever since.

Both Republican and Democrat politicians are pretty similar. They favor the rich, give lip service to the middle class, and couldn’t care less about the poor. They just use different words.

And Adam replies, “Now if that were a little blue pill, I’d be tempted”…(This’ll get lost in the crowd, but I had to say it)…

God is said in Genesis that Adam and Eve can have anything in the Garden of Eden other than the tree in the middle of the Garden. Jesus also is said to have taught his followers how to pray, so we get The Lord’s Prayer, which says in part, “lead us not into temptation.” If the injunction not to have anything to do with the tree isn’t temptation, I don’t know what is! I’m also taken by the snake – the inimical enemy of Amen Ra, top god in Egypt, was an entity called Apep. It has always intrigued me that Apep’s hieroglyph was a snake; I think the Jewish writers of the Torah picked something that everyone recognised as the depiction of Satan, from Egypt.

Wouldn’t living in the Garden of Eden and actually following the teachings of Christ considered to be… Communism?

“The church teaches that man was created perfect, and that for six thousand years he has degenerated. Darwin demonstrated the falsity of this dogma. He shows that man has for thousands of ages steadily advanced; that the Garden of Eden is an ignorant myth; that the doctrine of original sin has no foundation in fact; that the atonement is an absurdity; that the serpent did not tempt, and that man did not ’fall.’” Robert Green Ingersoll

It started something alright. We stopped being just another animal and began wonder about the world. Which made us fearful and angry at all the bad stuff that hurt us. Especially each other. Then we invented Hell.
