This is probably TMI, but Iâm one of the people who had to have surgery to remove the large intestine (not cancer, but an aggressive digestive disorder.) Believe me when I say you should not neglect this procedure â it can not only save your life, but help you possibly avoid living with âthe bagââŠ
miralax isnât bad at all, in fact it doesnât seem to taste like much of anything when I stir some into my coffee every other morning (to avoid side effects from my pain medication)
I need to drink that everyday. Too much intestine. The scope didnât even reach the end. My intestines have flipped a few times, the Gastro. doctor calls them floppy. He doesnât even want to touch them, AKA operate.
Anyone had a nonsedation colonoscopy? The advantage being you can leave as soon as it is over and resume regular activities and donât need to bring someone to drive you home.
What a coincidence Iâve got one scheduled today! Itâs been my experience the prep is worse than the event. Letâs hope that continues to be the case.
Never had one and pray I never have to. Iâll be 80 in Oct. and so far have avoided any needless or invasive procedures!
I remain â according to my doctor â in remarkably good shape for the shape Iâm in. Aside from controlling my hypertension and the inevitable slightly enlarged prostate, I stay healthy through a good diet of fresh fruits, veggies, fish, poultry, etc., and daily exercise.
Just before I had my last colonoscopy a coworker told me all about the horrors of his last one, including how it caused him to passout radomly for the following month. I never had an issue and the prep is much better than it was 10 years ago.
Um, how is this TMI? If he was explaining in gory detail everything that was going to happen, that would be TMI. Just saying, âItâs pretty badâ is not much information at all.
An hour after I started my prep last year, I tweaked my knee and could not put any weight on it. Fortunately, I had bought a pair of crutches the day before because my knees had been hurting badly.

Did that, BUT around midnight I had a bite of a muffin. Whilst they were making me one with the machine the nurse asked if I enjoyed that muffin!

Miralax and Gatorade actually wouldnât be bad. Unfortunately, it also wouldnât be an effective colonoscopy prep.

The whole process has itâs downs and ups. And ins and outs.
The prep ordeal is way way down there. And âthingsâ come out.
The procedure ordeal is way way up there. And âthingsâ go in.

20 years ago, you had to drink a gallon of mucus the day before a colonoscopy. Definitely worse than going through the actual procedure.

The procedure itself is also a lot easier â twilight sleep is much better than being awake for it (which is what I was for my first one)
