9th grade, gym teacher posted a sheet with the wins / loses among the classes in volleyball. One of the classes called themselves âThe Do Nothingsâ because they were in last place with zero wins.
My fifth grade teacher gave âgoose eggsâ instead of zeroes. It never offended anyone because she rarely gave them; sheâd just threaten to. We liked her.
The Goose Eggs though might be a good team. That reminds me of a local peanut marketing company in town known as Cromers, The Worst Peanut in Town. When the company was founded there were already many peanut companies named Perfect, Best, Greatest, Unique, all good superlatives. But Cromer didnât want his good peanuts to have to compete with all the others, so he called his peanut the worst in town. That caught the townâs attention, Cromers became a success and now itâs the only peanut company in town.
I donât understand why Charlie Brown is so determined to keep doing something he knows he is no good at, in the hope that he will eventually succeed. It makes at least a bit more sense to keep doing something you know you are never going to be good at just because you enjoy doing it and donât care that you wonât ever succeed.

I love this whole arc, with Chuck getting to be a mentor without the baggage of his reputation. Inspired concept.

Is it really so bad, Charlie Brown? Maybe your team could be a defensive juggernaut and it could be your opponents who keep getting goose eggs.

A goose egg is also what you get when the ball hits you on the head.
