In at least some freshwater clams, females âsuck inâ sperm released by males that fertilize her eggs. Embryos and larvae (glochidia) are held in gill pouches until the larvae are quirted out of the shell and spend some further development as parasites on fish gills.
Some fish swim in tight circles, boy fish bump girl fish to release their eggs, then releases sperm. It looks a bit like dancing. The new daddy fish stay to guard the babies.
