I was at Shakespeare and Co in Paris trying to buy Life and Fate by Vasily Grossman. The cashier said it should be on the shelf, then the other cashier said the man in the line next to me was purchasing it, they laughed, I wept theatrically. Finally bought it months later, worth every moment.
