My parents bought a house that had such a mail slot. They didn’t like the idea someone could look inside by doing what the mail carrier in this comic did. They bought a mailbox, then I filled the hole where the slot had been.

The people who bought that house had a mail slot put in. But, their mail slot was in the garage wall, and at a more convenient height for the mail carrier.

I sound the alarm!

There was a Law & Order episode where a detective looked inside a home through the mail slot, and Lennie Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) commented something like, “Be careful. I know a guy who lost an eye doing that.”

Today I had a chance to listen to an interview with the writer of Breaking Cat News. She said she was removed from a group of newspapers and the only female writer left was Lynn.
