Crankshaft by Tom Batiuk and Dan Davis for April 08, 2024

There’s an estimated 119000 WW2 veterans yet remaining alive, and the national WW2 museum says that an average of 131 of them die every day.

The next eclipse will be in 2044.

    Clock’s ticking, Ed.

Sorry, Ed, the total eclipse of 22 August 2044 just barely touches Montana. The path of the total eclipse of 8 December 2045 passes south of Ahia and you’ll only get about 75% coverage. Pretty much the same for the ones on 3 March 2052 and 5 November 2078. But you’ll get another total eclipse on 14 September 2099. So hang onto your antique glasses and outhouses. and maybe the Batisimulator can recycle the artwork!

Tomorrow, the first panel shows the empty yard. Second panel shows the clouds split, the rain end and the full eclipse unseen by one and all.

Hey, if you’re going to “borrow” your punchline from a 1963 “Peanuts” story about a solar eclipse, you might as well do it two days in a row.

Is Batiuk going for a second week of astronomical nonsense, or will the next Montoni’s-Komix Korner-Ohioana Book Conference arc start on a Tuesday?

The forecast for my area is “mostly cloudy”, so I’m not getting my hopes up.

Looks like all the people that paid him for this rioted, looking at the overturned chairs and garbage they left. So at least that was cool.

Unless there is some kind of medical miracle happening that I’m not aware of, somehow I don’t think you’ll be here for the next one, Ed.

At least he got to rent out the air mattresses in his basement on the night before the eclipse, right? I mean, surely he didn’t expect people to hang around after the big event, did he?

Tomorrow: Ed fires up the grill, and the resulting explosion launches him above the cloud layer, giving him a grand view of the eclipse.

It rained here in Houston and when it wasn’t raining it was cloudy. I didn’t get to see the eclipse at all.

So the Monday strip is exactly the same as the Sunday strip only in fewer panels. REALLY padding this last year out.

Saw it here in Toledo!! It was a little hazy but overall we had a great view! It was an incredible experience, it got dark except for around the horizon and the eclipsed sun looked pretty big! It was over pretty fast but definitely worth the hype.

As for Ed, stay tuned for people suing Pam for their money back. They can’t sue Ed because he’s not the homeowner.

    Ed is an optimist.

He’s ready to wait 20 years for the next eclipse.

    After all, what’s the alternative?
