    Good morning™, everyone!

Who was saying that this reminded them of the Savings and Loan crisis?

I’m wondering now if someone discovered the coverup. How does Nameless Detective know about the coverup? Who else knows?

Good morning™, Angry Investigator Ladies !

She’s all hot to go, like Mr. Pierce was still in the land of the living and must be apprehended NOW !   Tracy looks seriously imposing and I would not want to meet that woman in a dark breakroom. (She can have that last donut and even the last cuppa, that no one else will touch.)

The story is moving along, each day providing another detail, so we’re not buried in exposition. The art is really good, as usual. I like the first panel effects, it gives the 1980s S & L crisis a Depression-era feel. 3 stars.

So maybe I was right that he was driven to suicide, or maybe a murder to look like a suicide.

“No one knew he’d worked at old court. He’d covered it up”. Ah yes, it’s not so much what he said. It’s what he left out on his resume.

My mother had died, and I was the personal representative (once known as executor) for her estate. The had two savings accounts at R_____ Savings and Loan. The attorney told me to close those accounts out as fast as I could because they were about to go under.

So, I went there, identified myself and so on and said I was there to close out her two accounts. The teller did this, then asked, “What about her third account?”

    “What third account?” I asked.

“It’s a joint savings account between your mother, C____ S____ (my late stepfather), and

I said, “I’m the surviving co-owner. I’ll close out that account also. How much money is in it”

She said, “23,000. And it’s a good thing you came in, because it’s been inactive for seven years, and the state was about to take it over.”

I’m kind of skeptical about a story told entirely in narrated flashbacks by an unnamed … forensic accountant? Who the heck is she?

I know, I know, it’s only another five weeks before Tracy finally does something.

I remember this because their kids were at my private school. The fat wife went to jail for exceeding mandatory spending limits by the court and she was a snob who thought she could get away with anything.

This how you know this story isn’t real. A bank President went to jail.

Old Court Savings and Loan was a bank here in Maryland that failed during the S&L crisis… And the bank president and his wife were busted and he went to jail…

Both were “living high on the hog” and looked it… they were both quite fat and ostentatious…

Uh, I work in finance, you don’t ‘cover up’ your past like that your licenses and such are pretty well tracked and followed up on regularly.

1-BRENDA STIRR: WAIT! Before you throw me out… I was the reporter who broke the news that The Beatles were getting back together and would perform live on December 10th, 1980 at the OC S&L. People lined up for miles to get tickets.

2-DT: The Beatles you say? BRENDA: Then December 8th happened and everyone blamed me for their worthless tickets. DT: Ahh yes – Pearl Harbor. BRENDA: That was December 7th, 1941… geez. Anyway…

3-…I’ve been tryin’ to make a livin’ in the celebrity news business ever since. You gotta help me Tracy! DT: I WILL! But first – who are these “Beatles” you speak of? BRENDA: Ummm, they were the Tommy Dorsey band of their day. DT: WOWZER! I wonder how I missed that…? BRENDA: I don’t.

An update on “Willman vs the Chicago Tribune.” I spoke to a representative this morning who told me there have been “production issues” with the Dick Tracy comic strip on Sundays (whatever that means) and that the issue has been resolved. From this point forward the current strip should will run every Sunday and I got a discount on my subscription because of my trouble. If I see Mumbles hopping around in a furry outfit this Sunday, it’s war. WAR I TELL YOU!!
