Sometimes, if you don’t have or can’t find the regular parts, you just have to (try to) “Frankenstein” a machine together with whatever you have or whatever you can get.
A carburetor is a remarkably complicated device. Overhauling a Holly 4 barrel for the first time was an experience. Springs, little balls, all manner of stuff I had no idea what did or where went. Even after successfully completing it, I didn’t know in detail how it worked. Just that it did.
many vehicles nowadays have dozens of “brains” (computer modules), some even up to 100, which makes it really fun for us backyard mechanics who like to do their own repairs whenever possible… the price of progress!
If this cartoon is focusing on the idea that Igor isn’t the sharpest crayon in the box (he appears to be a little single-minded), what about Dr. F? He thinks a dead brain can replace a carburetor? He may be a brilliant mad scientist, but I wouldn’t bring him my car when it needs repairs.

Igor has one-track minds…
But it worked out. He’s been in charge of the self-driving “Autopilot” development at Tesla for years now.

Quite often it’s the brain in the driver that needs replacing.
