40 acres sounded like a lot of work just waiting for someone to do. Gus is setting them up with a little spread. Janis is hoping thereâs already a house to turn into a home.
city dwellers getting use to, well water, septic system, cleaning L.o.n.g. driveways, Mowing a few acres every week, hauling trash can down long driveway
So there is not even a house? They have to start from scratch, drive a long way several times a week to check on the building progress and have a place to live for the 6 or more months it took to build a house. That sounds awful at their age. I hope they say No Thanks.
Moving can be a headache. But we may have been mislead. Building is a whole new level even if you get a good deal on the lot and are able to build your dream house.
I am with Janis on this one. Who wants to start totally from scratch? They are retired, they do not want to wait almost a year for a house. Clear the land, hire an architect, a general contractor, get all the permits, deal with neighbors, look at flooring, paint, carpeting, plumbing fixtures, heating and a/c options, solar panels, landscapers, concrete foundations, choose windows, doors and siding, driveway paving, ..the list goes on and on.

Moving closer to the kids is one thing, building a house is major another.

Gus said that itâs 20 minutes to everything. Including a paved road?

A&J wanted rustic, privacy and trees, eh? Hmmmm, be careful what you ask for, especially the ârusticâ part.

What happened to the beach front house? Now theyâre being pressured to move to something they already have but at a much higher price?

Well, you get exactly what you want when you build a new home. They can live in their existing home until the new one is built.

Umm, I donât think this is Green Acres and that they are just down the road from Hooterville or Petticoat Junction.

The woods and water are trying to kill you in that part of the world, constantly.

Oh dear, I thought maybe Gus was onto something, now I have serious doubts. Or is there a surprise going along with the âfew acresâ?
