Was outside all afternoon Saturday watched the Vikings blow it Sunday.

We spend a lovely fall afternoon bike riding yesterday. Can’t imagine staying home for something on tv. If I really want to see it, I just record it to watch in the evening.

We had all the doors and windows open while we watched the Lions trounce the Vikings, then spent a couple hours sitting on the front porch. Best of both, I’d say.

Pro football hasn’t been worth watching in decades.

Why not both? We spent the morning outside getting stuff done and taking a walk. Then watched the home team at 1pm.

I never enjoyed sports. Both playing or watching. But I do enjoy watching and listening to my neighbor Dave. The day before a Lions game, he goes grocery shopping. That evening he starts cooking. Game days starts off with wonderful odors wafting over to my place. Mouth watering wafting, if you get my drift. Three hours before kickoff, his adult kids, their wives and grandkids troop in. At halftime, the noshing must begin because it is so quiet. After the game I enjoy listening to Dave give the game’s highlights, the main players colleges they attended and any relevant injuries. No, I never liked sports, both playing or watching. But there is neighbor Dave.

I love the “My sports are awesome, yours are a threat to human existence” storylines.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers got into the World Series yesterday and it’s New York against Los Angeles.

No, no sense whatsoever. I like football about as much as golf, baseball, bowling, and fishing. GREAT COMIC JEF. Thanks. BTW I love Frazz even better when he is outside like this. Thanks for that too Jef.

So many wonderful things to do, or just sit and rock on the porch and enjoy the beautiful weather — so much better than sitting inside (or in a noisy, smelly stadium) watching a bunch of grown men you have no real connection with playing a game.

Agree with first panel. Yesterday was a very nice day. Today will another. And tomorrow looks to be the same. By weekend leaves will cover the lawn and flower beds and the rake will be dusted off for the first load. Autumn – a feeling of normalcy after an unusually torrid summer.

I like it.

I was outside on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon feeding the homeless here in San Diego.

Went to the Browns-Bengals game. Good day to go, haven’t been to a football game is about 25 years. Nick Chubb came back. It was the day after the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame induction so we had Foreigner performing at halftime. Fun! Though the Browns lost (I blame the front office for their folly). Never again going for those nosebleed seats.

Get off your high horse. If people want to watch football let them.

Makes plenty of sense to me. It was hot here, like we were still stuck in summer. So staying inside to watch what should be a “fall” sport was a perfect antidote!

We already know what to expect from a day of good weather. Sports are less predictable.

The NFL had a players’ strike in 1982. For the first time in decades Iggles coach Dick Vermeil had fall afternoons free. That was his last year as Iggles coach.

Perception is a curious thing. I’m a few hundred hundred miles from them and for me it’s “Go Lions!”…

That’s right – it doesn’t!

We did have a lovely fall day yesterday (Ohio). I did some yardwork after church, and later went for a walk. I no longer have TV service; I watch DVDs when I want to see something. I haven’t watched commercial television since A&E canceled “Nero Wolfe”. (Twenty-odd years later, I still resent them for doing so.)

Ah, the color and pageantry of college football on a crisp fall after noon.

Except nobody gives a sh!t about any of that. The ONLY thing that matters is whether you will Make the Playoffs.

Color? Pageantry? Oh yeah, 2.3 seconds at a time, after four minutes of commercials.

Last time I watched a football game the Steelers were in the superbowl and visiting friends wanted to see it.

We had a beautiful fall day yesterday. I was inside all day because I had a sore throat and didn’t make it to church. Try again next Sunday.

I wonder how old Jef Mallett was when his parents held his head underwater for five minutes in that giant vat of judgmentalIsm.

Was at the beach, it was a beautiful evening. Very quiet, but I could see all the TV’s in all the windows. I had a great walk!
