Opal just make loaves of zucchini bread with walnuts and raisins and cream cheese icing and give some away and you’ll have people asking you for more—that is if Earl hasn’t eaten them all.
Duh. That’s like giving out bricks on Valentines day instead of valentines cards, and acting all surprised when the recipient tosses the brick through your window.
We had a neighbor that would skulk around at night and leave vegetables on all our front porches. About as close to the Great Pumpkin as you’re likely to get.

So, for the past 70 years, Opal never noticed that children like candy?

Hey Earl, go to the store and get the Halloween candy half off now!

Opal was never a kid? Hard to believe she didn’t like candy then.

Zucchinis are incredibly toxic.
That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.

She should start a food fad: ‘Pickled’ Zucchini. “Opal’s Own’?

“I just don’t understand young people today” has been the first panel in an uncountable number of comic strips.

Roscoe goes in front yard and sees all the zucchini, starts sniffing. Wonders what breed of dog or animal does this?

My wife put the zucchini plants in pots this year, which restricted their growth and the size of the zucs. Good plan.

Did kids ever prefer eating what was good for them??

Maybe zucchini grows should try offering them as a trick or treat option, it’s worked for potatoes.

How about a compromise and give away some bread’n butter zucchini?

Opal needs to nourish her inner child — go buy her some candy, Earl.

I gotta admit, doing a Halloween related story arc after Halloween is pretty clever. Well done Brian!

I can’t believe that kids back when Opal was young would rather have had veggies than candy. Kids haven’t changed that much.
