I always cleaned mine before I left for the day. I didn’t have a lot of paper work, it was all on the computer, and I had seen many messy desks of people who were disasters.
It always cracked me up when the President of the 7-person company ordered we clear everything away before a gaggle of investors went through. If I were with them, I would have thought we were in Chapter 11. A messy (but not dangerously so) facility is a busy place.
I had cleaned many offices when me and the ex husband had our own cleaning business and some days the desks were left so messy we couldn’t clean them. There were many times the door was closed with garbage can sitting in hallway, we were told when it was like that to not even go in office to attempted to clean it. My Dad cleans a local lawyers office every other week and he runs into the same problems with some of the lawyers.

I had a coworker who would sit down to write a memo, and fool with the fonts, layout, bullets, etc. for an hour, just to write a ten minute memo.
