P.1. Sam’s nose looks like it has a condition. It is swollen yet Sam is not a lush but a very responsible tippler. Now if he could only apply that discipline to pastrami sangwiches.

Nitpicky time – the left pupil should be more to the right towards the corner of his eye to match the right. Or Charles should’ve “hat shadowed” inked the eye as well.

The “Boche” was an old derogatory British term for the Germans in both World Wars. Does it have a deeper significance here?

It would certainly be a rather strange word for a German agent to use, even as a codename.

Was he running an Italian bowling tournament or is that Bocci Ball ?

Has anybody figured out what this story is all about? Does anybody care? Anybody?

boche was a rude term for the germans by the french that was picked uop by the britisdh but the americans never adopted.

From that look on Tracy’s face, I’d take that as a yes to Sam’s question.

‘Burg’ was originally a German word, so is Sam’s use of it here just a standard tough-cop colloquialism or another of Eric’s obscure historical whimsies?

When Pruneface was unfrozen in 1983,it was one of the few times Tracy and Wendy Wichel agreed on something.

Sam has unknowingly stumbled on Tracy’s darkest secret. Not saying, other then it involves macrame, clown shoes and 16 toe of number one coal. And undercooked pasta. Can’t forget THAT!

ODDBALL OT: We were driving to the store yesterday, and a new place opened in a mini-mall down the way. The sign (and it’s on a high pole somebody must have used a long stick or ladder to change it (unless that IS the real name) to read BROW’S BRAZILIAN SPRAY TANNING.

WHEN is this supposed to be going on? Now? Or recently after the war? For that matter, which war? WWII? Or some crazy war in an alternate Dick Tracy universe.

Tracy has grandkids watching anime (cool) and going to cons and doing cosplay, but he’s also from the WWII generation? Is he somehow related to Walt Wallet, only still fit and trim?

Not necessarily Pruneface that will appear. Remember that there was a Mrs. Pruneface and they might have had children and grandchildren.

Pruneface, who would have been around 40 years old during the war, would be well over 100 years old by now.

For what it’s worth, I have about every comic book I ever bought in my life. (I’m 80 ) No tv, few movies for me, and A little radio. BUT I liked the style of drawing, villains and plots much better. Especially if the hero had/wore a BLACK MASK (mom made them for me) I have around 2000 comics

We won’t miss you. Nobody’s making you read this strip anyway.

Maybe it’s not obvious for Americans, but Boche was French slang for Germans during both World Wars, and between.

I’m coming in the middle of this — haven’t even see a Dick Tracy comic for more than 50 years — but it is nice to see the comments open again. How about if your comment , if negative, included a positive direction you’d like to see in the comic?

Pruneface and the hideous Mrs.Pruneface had a son who was ashamed of them and died a war hero in Korea—on our side. This was only a brief verbal mention in a Sunday strip when grand-daughter Prunella teamed with Angeltop and Quiver trembly
