Ack, I was looking forward to Dr. Ghote spilling the beans about Mysta’s identity. But this is a great tribute strip, and the other stuff can wait a day. :) I agree Lizz looks really good here.
I too was hoping to hear today from Dr. Ghote. My disappointment stems from being so ridiculously hooked on this story and not because 9/11 isn’t important. I never thought it possible, but I now look forward to reading Dick Tracy each day with an intensity I haven’t experienced since the Gould old days. Thank you Mike Curtis and Joe Staton for restoring my love for this great comic strip. Long live Moon Maid!
It is nice to pause and remember 9-11. Let’s not forget the 23 NYPD officers and 37 Port Authority police officers who died. (Thankfully no transit police officers died.)
I do not think that Lizz looks at all cute she looks sad just like the artist wanted her to. I bet someone goes to funerals to check out babes. ….sick…. 9/11 is special to me too but I’m sure some would not understand so ……..it is what IT IS
One, is there a link for Mike Staton’s blog?.Two, which I asked the other day, is anyone in contact with Dick Locher and, if so, what does he think of the new Dick Tracy?.Three, tsull2121, a most curious – and tasteful – remembrance of the original 9/11 – yet your final words were “don’t NEED to be reminded every … year.”.I agree that the story is gripping and I, too, was disappointed because of the “time out,” but sometimes, “time outs” are a good thing…
Well said, Tim. The “conspiracy” fools chose not to listen to the admissions (many times) on OBL’s own voice of al Qaida’s complicity. They’d rather blame Halliburton, Bush, & Cheney. Tim, you spoke for me. Thanks.Morrow
As much as I, like many of you, start virtually every morning with the new, improved Dick Tracy, and as much as I look forward to seeing what new plot twists will be revealed, accompanied by the superb art, I believe Staton and Curtis did absolutely the right thing for today. Are we so fixated on fictional characters that we can’t take a moment to reflect on a significant day such as 9/11?
I know it’s frustrating not to see another episode in this story, especially since everything is building to a confrontation, and “secrets are (about to be) revealed.” But sometimes we need to remember just how many lives were lost, especially those of the more than 400 first responders who rushed into the burning buildings trying to save others.
9/11 is one of the reasons I entered the service, albeit as a reservist. Because of the civilian forces that perished in those attacks, of which Tracy is a member, it’s important that this strip pauses every year to remember just why we’re all still here enjoying our freedom from such evil men in the world.
I agree, never forghet. Gee, one day without a strip to remember the 3,000 pkus lives lost, and more from the aftermath. Joe and Mike, continue to take the high road as you two always do.
did i ever say i FORGOT about it? i said i dont NEED to be reminded of it every year.
i wonder if there will be the same “outpouring of emotion” come december 7th.
how THAT day gets overlooked is beyond me. the government declared september 11th as “Patriot’s Day”.. what does that mean exactly? If, God forbid, September 11th gets declared a national holiday BEFORE december 7th, then you know we’ve lost all perspective
night gaunt, werent two other buildings taken down (including #7)? i thought there was a #5 and #4 that went down a few days later or had to be condemned cause of structural damage
If you cannot stand having memorial strips, then don’t read them. As a patriotic American, I want to see more of them. It is the fools that don’t learn from history that don’t want to be reminded.
Now, to those who don’t want memorial strips … stuff a sock in it.
Great to have you back! Proud of SDM’s comment today! Surprised no one has commented yet on OB’s return as Rightwingmoron, but perhaps we have all become a lot more civil.

No matter what you believe about the events of that day (and I have my reservations) it still deserves to be remembered with respect.
