When the dogs are slurping us here (I call it being schnozzled) we giggle in an elderly fashion. It still feels the same and the dogs absolutely love it!
I remember the old Pepsi commercial where the little boy is laughing and giggling out of control on the ground while a bunch of puppies are jumping all over him. I love that commercial.
Bill Watterson had a way of flipping the script, although he could do it without resorting to sarcasm or snark.
Calvin: “I want a horsey ride.”
Dad: “Calvin, we have a lot of chores to get done today and not much time to relax.”
Calvin: “You know Dad, I am going to grow up soon enough. You will look back and say where has the time gone, Calvin is so big. I remember a time when he was so small I could give him horsey rides. But those days will be gone forever.”
Last panel. Dad has Calvin on his shoulders
Dad{annoyed}: “I think I have worked through my potential guilt now.”
The strip needs to be updated, but Jim Croce references can still be made. Due to Trudeaunomics, the Pattersons are poorer. They will be singing “I Got a Name”.
When I was in grammar school us boys liked to swim up to the girls underwater and pinch their legs. Girls squealing and jumping out of the water…I wish I could keep that forever.

It’s sad so many commenters here feel the need to be snarky about one of the loveliest strips in the series.

A good giggle is worth 2 guffaws and a fist full of snorts. We should all be blessed with at least one giggle a day.

With thanks to Jim Croce
If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I’d like to do
Is to save every day till eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I’d save every day like a treasure and then
Again, I would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do, once you find them
I’ve looked around enough to know
That you’re the one I want to go through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty, except for the memory of how
They were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do, once you find them
I’ve looked around enough to know
That you’re the one I want to go through the time with

There are a lot of Jim Croce comments. Needless to say, everyone is thinking of his song:
Bad, bad, Leroy Brown.
Baddest man in the whole dum town.
Badder than old King Kong.
Meaner than a junkyard dog.
